02/11/1999, Public Hearing Meeting Minutes2332 MINUTES OF KENNEDALE CITY COUNCIL PUBLIC HEARING -FEBRUARY 11, 1999 100 E. BROADWAY ST. -COMMUNITY CENTER Mayor Wright called the public hearing to order at 7:36 p.m. Members present: Mayor Wright, Councilmembers' Clark, Barrett, Vaughn and Kovach. Members absent: Councilmember Hoover. Staff present: Ted Rowe, Kathy Turner, Linda Royster, Lynette Whidden, Michael Box, Mort Wetterling, and legal counsel, Wayne K. Olson. PUBLIC HEARING - To receive citizens comments regarding projects to be funded under the Community Development Block Grant program. This grant program is generally limited to street, drainage, water or sewer improvements within the approved target area for the benefit of low to moderate-income neighborhoods. Projects will be identified for the twenty-fifth year with an estimated annual cost of $90,000 to $135,000. Mr. Michael Box, Director of Community Development and Enforcement addressed Council with the following projects: 1. Water Line Improvements. To continue the extension of the 12-inch water line through the newly annexed area down New Hope Road and across Hudson Village Creek to the existing Arlington water main at an estimated cost of $110,000. 2. Reconstruct Collett Sublett Road with asphalt street, curb and gutter and drainage at an estimated cost of $210,000. (Note: Would be done in increments over two project years). 3. Install Sewer line through the newly annexed area at an estimated cost of $160,000. (Note: This will require several projects over the next few years to sewer the entire area. This is just the first step.) In closing, Mr. Box recommended Council select project one for the 25~' year CDBG project. No other persons signed in to speak during the public hearing.
