A: WORKSHOP: Proposed budget for fiscal year 2000-20001.
Council was presented revised budget worksheets with recommended changes from the
previous workshop. Discussion then began with the Street Department and upcoming street
projects. It was also noted that a priority street repair listing was forwarded to Tarrant
County, Precinct 2, and that the city would receive assistance on one large project and the
possibility of assistance on two to three smaller projects.
Next, Council addressed the Water Department and the request for a badger water meter
replacement program that would also provide electronic reading capability. A map was
prepared reflecting the meter reading routes and Council was shown the largest areas that the
new system would be implemented on first. It was said that by going to this type of system,
the city would see an increase in revenues due to the accuracy of the new meters and that re-
reads would be reduced.
Council continued discussing unfunded items and recommended additional monies be set
aside for the streets and badger meter reading system. Another workshop was scheduled for
August 31, 2000 to review changes.
