MINUTES OF THE REGULAR, MEETING OF THE
CITY COUNCIZ OF THE CITY. OF KENNEDALE, TEXAS,
ON, JUNE 1, 1957-.
1. The meeting was duly called to order at $t00 P. M. by the Mayor.
Upon a r~7z], call of councilmen, Counei]men Evans, 'T'urner, Winters, Morris and
Mayor Webb were present; Council Middleton was absent. The City Secretary was
asked to read the minutes of the previous meeting, to-wit, the regular meeting
of May 1~, 1951, and the special meeting of May 18, 1951. Upon the completion
of the reading of the minutes of the said regular meeting of May k, 1951, and
the said special meeting of May 18, 1951, and there being no objections or
ommi.ssions noted to the same, the said minutes of both meetings were proclaimed
to stand approved as read.
2. Councilman Evans moved that the resignation heretofore submitted
by Councilman J. D. Middleton be accepted and that a vacancy of the place upon
the City Council heretofore occupied by the Honorable J. D. Middleton be de-
clared. Councilman Turner duhy seconded the motion and the same'.:passed by
unanimous vote of all councilmen present.
3. The Mayor then declared and proclaized a vacancy to exLst upon the
City Council and sought the pleasure of the City Council in reference to filliriro
the said vacancy.
1~. Councilman Turner duly moved that A. S. Flake be appointed to fill
the vacancy exLating upon the City Council. Councilman Evans duly seconded the
motion nominating Mr. A. S. Flake as a member of the City- Council. Upon vote
taken the motion appointing A. S. Flake to the City Council for the remainder of
the term was passed by unanimous vote of all councilmen present.
5. The required oath was administered to Mr. A. S. Flake, who took
the same, and who, was then and there declared by the Mayor to be a member of
the City Council of the City of Kennedale, Texas.

6. Councilman Evans duly moved that the City Secretary be authorized
to purchase a X5,000.00 - X10,000.00 and X5,000.00 liability and property damage
insurance upon the city police car. Councilman Turner duly seconded the motion
and same was passed by unanimous vote.
7. Rev. John Ervin, pastor of the Henderson Com~nurL-tty Church was
present and requested permission from the City Council to hold religious services
within the city limits of Kennedale one night per week with certain loud speaking
units. Councilman E~rans duly moved that the request of Rev. Ervin be granted
provided that the privilege so granted be revokable at the pleasure of the City
Council. Councilman Winters duly seconded the motion and upon vote taken the
same was passed by unanimous vote.
8. Upon motion duly made and seconded and carried, the meeting ad-
~ourned at 9x45 P. M.
