REGULAR MEETING OF THE KENNEDALE CITY COUNCIL
OCTOBER 5th, 1961
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Childres at 8PM: After
a roll call of the Council the following members were found to be
present.: Councilmen: Hammack, Harper and Vick. Councilman Radakovich
was absent.
Mr. Henry Cowart was present and was desirous of obatininj payment
for pump repair at the disposal plant..these pumps have not been accepted
by the Council and they feel that the Livingston Pump ~'ompat~y should pay for
anay repair necessary...the matter was placed in the hands of the City attorney.
A Committee from the IOf?F Lodge~of Kennedale asked the Council to waive
the sewer tapping fee because the secretary of the Lodge had f ailed to take put
a Permit before the June lst deadline..this was an oversight and the other members
had been l d to believe the matter had been taken care of..The committee was
advised the t apBing fee would be waived and they would only have to apply for
an inspection.
A motion was made by Councilman Hammack to use plastic pipe to lay the
water line on the Little School road to the Paul Winters property..the City
to pay for the first 180 feet and Mr. Winters to bear the additional cost..
Councilman Harper seconded the motion and upon ,vote taken the same .was passed
unanimously.
Mr. J.D. Wright had a complaint about the road leading by his house to
the Goodwin property which is badly in need of repair...Mr Hammack owns the
property and was asked to assist in getting the work done..
Councilman Harper made a motion to use the remaining bale nce in the
Building Fund for office equipment...Councilman Vick seconded the motion and upon
vote taken the same was passed unanimously.
Councilman Vick made a motion to employ Mrs. Mary Lee Cumming as a
full time bookkeeper at a salary of ~C1~!r' week. Mrs. Langford suggested

to the ColEtotle Hrs. Cumming be appointed Assistant city secretary and the

City Atto advised that an Ordinance Would have tc> be passed to this
effect setting up such an office. The Council then instructed him to

draw up such an-Oridasance and present it ~ the next meeting. CounciLnax
Hammack seEOnded the motion and uppn note taken the same was passeel
unanimously.
A motion was made by Councilman Hammack to raise the City
Attorneys retaining fee X25.00 per moth...Councilman Vick seconded the
motion and upon vote taken the same was passed unanimously.
