05.04.1961 CC MinutesREGULAR MEETING OF THE KENNEDALE CITY COUNCIL 2 MAY !t, 1961 The meeting was called to orderby Mayor Protem Radakovieh. After a roll call of the Council the following members were found to be present. Councilmen: Hammack, Vick and Harper. Councilman McU®nald and Mayor Childres were absent. H.C. Evans was present with a request for annexation of property on the New hope road in the R.C. Richey Survey a distance of 1200 feet from the South city limits. Councilman Han~nack made a m®tion that the Council favor the request and advised him to proceed with legal negotiatio~as necessary t® annex the area...Councilman Vick seconded the motion and upon vote taken the same was passed unanimously. l Mr. John Lenz a real estate man representing; Mrs. Fern McKinley who +~ desires to build a trailer park and trailer sales Co on highway 287 is Wooilea Acres presented a plat of plans for said park for their approval. The Council advised Mr. Lenz they would look into the matter further and let him know what their decision will be. Mr and Mrs. George Mahan asked the Council to pay for a sewer tap which was necessarg for a Bonded man to make because no "Y" had been left. Mr. Mahan reminded the C®uncil of the first letter sent out by the City ,- which stn ted the City would make the tap at no cost to the user...The Council agreed to reimburse Mr. Mahan the sum of ~2'~QO~~which he showed it had cost t® make the tap after a moti®x made by carper and seconded by Vick...in the future however, it must be understood that if the City is to pay f®r a tapping fee the city employees will make the taps and not be done by a contractor. Mr. Frank Cambroa asked that symething be dt-ne about the street which he lives on where he says the Steed Construction company has obstructed by leaving dirt which causes the water to overflow thereby causing a hazard. He als® complained that a second hand store near his residence could be classed a a junk store...Council instructed the City Attorney t® write the 252 ®wner a letter and advise him of the complaint and learn if anythdng can be done about it. ...Mr. Cambroa then brought forth a complaint regarding the high valuation on his property, he was advised his taxes had already beex lowered and he had not been taxed higher than his neighbors intentionally but through an error of the tax-assessor. Councilman Harper made a motion to accept Route B regarding the extension of the sewer line up the Old Mansfield road as suggested by Freese, Nichols and Endress...Councilman Hammack seconded the motion and upon vote takeA the same was passed unanimously. Councilman Harper made a motion to engage 1'~rs. Mary j'ee Cumming as a part time bookkeeper to be employed one day each week or arty time the City Secretary needed extra he1p..Mrs. Cumming will be paid X10.00 for one day's work. She will handle all the bookkeeping for the ~ity. ^ B.T. Webb asked for an assistant now that the sewer plant is in operation. He reccommended George Roberts be employed and the Council looked with favor upon the suggestion and asked Mr. Hebb to discuss salary with Mr. Ho~erts and see what can be worked out... The Council voted to appoint Mr. B.D. Winn as Municipal Judge to replace Mr. ji.C. Evans and instructed the City secretary to advise Mr. Evans by letter of the change and to impress upon him that they felt Mr. Winn had had more experience in handling legal matters and it was to the best interest of the city to engage a man with more legal experience and that replacing him did not in any wags reflect upon his integrity...The motion was made and carried ant by all members present.
