408 RBGt7LAR MEETING OF THE KBNNPDALE dDUNCIL November 16, 1967 The minutes from the previous meeting were read and approved. The mseting was called to order at 7:45 P.M. by Mayor Horton, and all members were present. 1. Gertrude Wyatt requested permission to move a trailer on her property on Mansfield Cardinal Road, stating her son was going to Viet Nam, and wanted Des wife to live there. Said there would be a separate Water and Sewer Tap. Jim Moore mad~anotion to grant her this requ est• Mr. Hatton 2nd, motion carried unamiously. 2. Tom Lowry came before the council, presenting a bid he had for a new fire truck stating it would cost about 3600!:00 to 3700.00, and asked if the City would pay for half of the cost. Jim Moore asked him to let the City Council gets some bids, thought could get it cheaper. 3. Mr. Madden presented to the Council a petition signed by several citizens~x~-ho live on Rolanda Road, requesting the City what they could do about drainage ditch that is was almost impossible to drive on the road when it rains. Don Lyon advised him the developer was responsible for the street, they might could get the County to gravel it, if they bought the gravel. Jim Moore asked him to contact all the property owners and see if they would pay for the gravel, if so how much. 4. Mrs. Underwood came before the council asking a pay phone be installed in the Kennedale Community Center, stating if the City had it installed, there would be no charge for the deposit and the teen club would pay for the installing and pay the bill each month. Also wanted t® revise some rules on the club as was previoulsly written. The girls wanted to b e able to wear slacks, also with;. their shees off. John Biondi made motion to grant her this request, Hatton 2nd motion, motion carried unamiously. 5. Mrs. Hodge came before the Council asking permission to move a house on her property at 515 North Road 2033, stating she would do some repairs on the house, Hatton made notion to grant her permission, Don Lyon 2nd motion, stipulating it would not b e rental property. Rour voted for it, Jim Moore voted against it. 6. Mayor Horton asked the City Attorney if he had notified Estes Disposal Service just how unsati~`factory their service had been, and the City of Kennedale would like to have another garbage disposal service. Mr. Marshall advised would have Mr. Bstes meet with the Council at a called meeting on November 30, 196y. 7. The Mayor asked Jim Moore if he would talk to Cecil Lyon, as he was appointed to investigate and deteriaine where the street lights were most needed. Mr. Moore said he would take care of the matter. 8. Mr. Hatton advised the police Department the police car would not 1 cave. the City limits only in emergency and they drive at a normal rate of speed, be on time and try and get along. The Chief would be responsible of reporting to him. 9. Don Lyon made motion to adopt Ordinance 67.7, 1 eying and distributing taxes for year of 1967, taxes were 1 evied at $1.00 per hundred valuation. 1496 t® interest & Sinking Fund, 1696 to General Obligation Fund, and 7tyfb to General Fund. CALL MEETING OF THE KSIQI+iEDALE CITY COUNCIL Novemb er,3d, 1967 409 Mayor Horton called the meeting to order 7:45P.M., and all mmemmbers were present. 1. Jim Ayers, a Engineer for Parker Cresden associates, appeared before the Council to bring them up t® date of the progress the planning b©ard had accom- plished and suggested a community meeting for the purpose of discussing coning matter. 2. Mr. Hubbard from Estes Disposal Dervice came before the Council at the request of our City Attorney, in regard to the numerous complaints we have had on the garbage service. Mr. Hubbard stated he had only received one commplaint. 3. Jim Mo®re made mmotion to ask Sated to withdraw their franchise, Mr. Hatton 2nd motion,. 4 voted for, Biondi abstained from voting. This request was made b ecauae of lodcal situation, which the City Council feels can best be solved with different arrangements. The Council asked a letter be written to Estes, thanking themm for the satisfactory service they had rendered in the past and would appre- ciate a letter from thew concerning this cancellation. ( confirming) 3. Mr. Moore made motion to grant Don Myers the garbage disposal for not more than two years contract. Hatton 2nd motion, motion carried unamiously. 4. Mayor Whitley explained the insurance, covering the employees and one reserve, would amount to $13.96 pier mmonth. Mr. Corcoran made motion to accept the insur- ance, Hatton 2nd, and motion carried unamiously. to Hatton made mmotion adjourn, Don Lyon 2nd mmotion. Meeting adjourned at 1Os10 P.M. Approved: Mayor W.
