Regular Meeting of;the Kennedale City Council

Mayor Horton called the meeting to order at 7:30 P. M. Council members present
were Don Lyon, H. L. Hatton, Jim Moore, John J. Biondi, Jr. being the only ab-
sentee.
The minutes from the previous meeting were read and approved.
1. Tom Lowry came before the Counci_1, asking if it was possible to give the
Volunteer Firemen free water, or if that wasn't feasible to try in some way to
show our appreciation to the Volunteer Firemen for what they were doing for
the City of Kennedale, stating it was difficult to get Vol. Firemen. The
Council advised him would take this into consideration and advise him of the out
com e .
2. Mayor Horton asked the City Attorney if he had the Ordinance 67-16 pertaining
to the reserve officers. Mr. Marshall stated he did and the~'+ read the ordinance.
To wit; All reserve Officers shall be under the supervision of the Chief of
Police and the City Council. Reserve Officer shall have the authority to and
shall carry firearms when on duty for the ~ pnnedale Police Department, and have
the same right and duty to made arrests as~~regular Police Officer for the City of
Kennedale. Chief Mitchell asked the if he would have to limit to 5 reserve
officerA =~~~~? r~~izens from Kennedale, he was advised could raise the number
to tea and limit it to Tarrant County.
3. Ken Adams proposed to the Council, that after 6 months of continous work,
they be reimburse for their uniforms, not to exceed $28.95. Hatton made motion
the City would reimburse them after six months, Don Lyon
unamiously.
4. Mrs. Roundtree and Mrs. Raines presented a request to
a street light on Broadway and Main, stating there was a
center of the lot. Don Lyon suggested for them to conta

5. James Moore came before the Council requesting permission to move two trailers
on Gots 14-15 and 16 in Kennedale Survey, Mayor Horton advised him he would have
to check on the restriction in that area and would let him know the following day.
6. Calvin Hollifi~•1d asked permission to leave his trailer on lot where the
house burned, sta,,t~? ng he would brick it if necessary. Don Lyon made motion to give
him permission tei?~;aorarily, not to exceed 6 months, Jim Moore 2nd motion, motion
carried unamiously.
7. Robert Patterson came before the Council to verify that the City of Kennedale
would join with the Kennedale Independent School District in regard to filing
suit for some delinquent taxes, he was advised it had been voted on and in the
minutes that the City would cooperate in any way. He also stated the school was
ire progress of hot topping Mistletbe~ Clover Lane, and Crestview and asked if the
City would help in the labor of the project. Don Lyon made motion to investi-
gate the possibilities of paving the three streets, Hatton 2nd motion, motion
carried unamiously.
8 Mr. Mitchell askeed permission to buy new siren for the police car, also a
shot gun Siren being $229.00 and shot gun $89.74, the Council advised him they
would take it into consideration.
9. Hatton made motion to appoint Don Lyon Mayor Pro-Tem. Jim Moore 2nd, motion
carried unamiously.

10. Mayor Horton asked the City Attorney if had to have ordinance in regard
to the speed limits Mr. Marshall said would bring up to date all speed or-
dinance at next meeting.
11. Jim Moore made motion to appoint Dept. Heads over the personnel. Mayor
Horton suggested Don Lyon be supervisor over the office and finances. Mr.
Hatton to supervise the police dept. John J. Biondi, Jr. would supervise the
water and s~-er. Jim Moore over the Public works.
12. Don Lyon made motion to give Mr. Auerbach, our tax assessor a raise of
$65.00, the city's prorate would be $26.00 per month. Hatton 2nd motion,
motion carried unamiously.
1.3. Hatton made motion to adjourn, Don Lyon 2nd, meeting adjourned 10:30 P.M.
