01.25.1968 CC MinutesSPECIAL CALL MEETING OF THE KENNEDALE CITY COUNCIL 4 1 January 25, 1968 1 Mayor Horton assemble the meeting at 7:40 P.M, Council members present were Don Lyon, H. L, Hatton, Jim Moore and Bob Corcoran. John J. Biondi, Jr. being the only absentee, 1. Mr. Greer came before the Council asking permission to move a mobile hsrne on one of the lots he bought from Mrs. Spencer in the Kennedale survey. After he was advised of the specifications required of a mobile home, Mr. Hatton made motion to grant him permission, Bob Corcoran 2nd, motion carried unamiously. 2. Bi11 B~_shop appeared before the Council, asking something be done about the road wheiehe lives, stating it was almost impossible to drive on it. Don Lyon requested the City Secretary to check and see if it was a dedicated street. Jim Moore suggested contacting the County to see if they would give us any assis- tance on the street. Mayor Horton stated he had talked with Mr. Punch Wright and was told the County wouldnnt do any repairs on this street. The Council ad- vised him they would take into consideration and see if there was any thing they could do about the condition. 3. Mayor Horton said raises were in line. Bob Corcoran made motion to raise the Chief of Police from $110,00 to $130.00, Water Supt. from $100.00 to $130.00, tJater Supt. Assistant from $95.00 to $100.00, City Secretary from $85.00 to $115.00, City Clerk from $50.00 to $60.00, and Maintenance of Disposal Plant from $70.00 to $75.00. Jim Moore said he was opposed to raises of the amount set forth. Mr. Hatton 2nd motion, Mr. Moore voted against. Three for and one against, motion carried. 4, hir. Hatton said since we were short on policemen, he would make motion to pay 2 reserved $7.50 each not to exceed oneday a week, they then would deposit it in Reserve Police Fund and two designated men would sign the checks, if they work with regular policeman wouldn't get paid. Also need 6 badges at $7.00 each, the City would pay for the badges and when a policeman was given a badge he would give the City Secretary $?,00 and if for any reason he terminate he would return the badge and if it was in good condition the City Secretary would refund him the $7.00. These badges are 7 point star badges. Also to reimburse the Reserves for their uniforms within 90 days instead of the 6 months, Jim Moore 2nd motion, motion carried. 5. Mayor Horton asked the Council if they wanted to continue paying the insurance for the Volunteer Fire Dept. Jim Moore made motion they pa;' insurance, Don Lyon 2nd. Motion carried unamiously. 6. Mr. Corcoran suggested not to put any one on the Agenda for the Special Meeting, only in case of emergency, this would give the council more time to tran- sact the City's business. Any one desiring to come before the council should call and be put on the agenda by 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, prior to the regular council meeting which is 2nd Thursday of each month. 7. Mr. Corcoran stated some of the activites at the Kennedale Community Center were getting a little rowdy. Wants to have a meeting of the dept. heads of each organization. Also stated the floor was in bad shape, Mr. Lyon suggested he consult Mr. Wise of the Wise Floor Service. Jim Moore suggested Mr. Corcoran form a committee to draw up rules and regulations of each organization. Mr. Moore made motion to adjourn, Mr. Hatton 2nd.
