REGULAR MEETING OF THE KENNEDALfi CITY COUNCIL
Nov. 11, 1971
Mayor Martin assembled the meeting at 7:35 P. M. Council members present were
Mrs. Inez Keithley,John J. Biondi, Jr., Marshall Tyson, Bill Bishop and B. J.
Watson.
The minutes from the previous meeting were read and approved.
Mr. Haley with Myers and Haley Disposal Co. came before the Council, asking if
they had reached a decision of re-Hewing his contract, where by he would receive
• 1.85 and the City .15 cents per customer. Mr. Watson made motion to grant his
request, 2nd by Mrs. Keathley; carried unanimously.
Mr. Anderson who resides in Gay Daughters addition came before the Council asking
them to run water to 2 houses outside city limits. He was asked why he didn't
petition to be annexed into the City. The Council instructed Mr. Burris to
investigate it and make a recommendation to them at the next regular meeting.
Mr. Rogers came before the Council stating he had bought 2 lots on the west side
of Dick Pricei:Road, which is in Fort Worth, asking the City to furnish him water
and run a water line to his property, which would be about 186 feet. Mrs. Keithl ey
made motion to write Fort Worth, asking their permission to furnish him water,
2nd by Mr. Tyson; carried unanimously. The Council advised him Kennedal a would set
water meter on north side corner of Zip In Grocery, but he would have to run his
own water line, since it was not in our City.
Calvin Hollifield came before the Council, saying about 3 years ago he was given
permission by the Mayor, then, to move a trailer on his property and started getting
citations on Monday. He paid the City $65.00 Cash Bond and wants reimbursed for
the $65.00, also a 1 etter of apology from the City as he was placed in jail. He
also stated he had a check from the City in the amount of $88.50 and it was wrong
because he had swaped out with Pete to do some welding on the jail doors in ex-
change for some pipe and used his pipe cutters, and that he would return $88.50
check if he received his $65.00 back and a apology. Mr. Biondi made motion
if the cases had been dismissed to reimburse Hollifield the $65.00, 2nd by Mr.
Bishop. Mr. Watson made motion to give him lettez from the City of an apology.
Mr. Tyson 2nd, carried unanimously. Mr. Hollifield stated he didn't care if the
letter was signed or not.
Mrs. Keathley informed the Council that different citizens had called her wanting
to know will Hilldale and Turner Acres get sewer if this Bond Issued carried?
Also would like the question answered where the money is that was set aside to
tie onto Ft. Worth sewer and why we haven't tied on yet. The Council discussed
this at length. Mrs. Keathley suggested have a small map published in the paper,
shwoing the designated phases and state in the paper the map is available at the
City Hall.
Mr. Marshall read a revised agreement between Fincher Bros. and the City of
Kennedale which was satisfactory.
Mx. Marshall read Ordinance 71-11 regarding junk yards and junk cars on the street.
Mr. Tyson made motion to adopt Ordinance 71-11, 2nd by ~lr,Watsr~n; carried unani-
mously.
Mr. Marshall asked the Council if they desired to draw up a resolution, the City
Attorney to intervene in the Trinity River Project. Mr. Marshall stated James A.
McMullin III volunteered to handle without fee the intervention of those government
units who want to be represented. Mr. Marshall xecommended draw up a resolution
to be verified by James A. McMullin. P~Ix. Tyson made motion to adopt this ordinance

subject to the City Attorney's approval, 2nd by Mr. Biondi; carried unanimously.
M:r. Martin read letter from Tarrant County, asking Kennedale to join in a County
waste disposal; the Council disapproved.
The secretary asked the Council if front office could close on Thanksgiving until
Monday as had in previous years. Mr. Watson made motion the office be closed, 2nd
by Mr. Biondi. Carried unanimously.
Mr. Watson made motion to adjourn,. 2nd by Mr. Tyson. Meeting adjourned at 10:15
P. M.
