REGULAR TIEFTING OF THE KENNEDALE CI1Y CX~UNCIL
,TUNE 2 4 , 1971
Mayor Platt assembled the meeting at 7:30 P. M. Council members present were
Mrs. Inez Keithly, John J. Biondi, Jr., J. H. Martin, Bill Bishop and B. J. Watson.
Mr. Auerbach, our Tax Consultant, appear?d before the Council and asked if they
had reached a decision on the tax structure, that needed to know as soon as
passible far have to make preparations to get the tax statements mailed on Oct. 1,
1971; saying we actually had two alternatives, to accept the appraise'~s evaluation
and tax ~0 or 50~ of the valuation; would have to have an equalization board or
use last years tax roll and increase the tax rate. He suggest ad the Council
appoint 3 tax. committee to meet with the school board and he could not give them
any figures until they reached a decision. D9r. Biondi said thought it :vas toc~
imature at this time until got a report from the equalization board. Mrs. Keithly
made motion to table this matter until the nerd Council Lneeting, 2nd by Mr. :+3atson,
motion carried unanimously. They asked Mr. Auerbach to meet with them at their
next meeting.
Joe Childers with Youth ,ife anon-profit organization came before the Council
requesting a permit to sell for fire works. Mr. LJatson tradz moti~~n this request
be denied, 2nd by Mr. Martin, motion carried unanimously.
Mr. Marshall informed the Council of a public hearing on annexiIiy James Badgers.
There was nc opposition. Mr. Biondi made motion for Mr. Marshall to proceed with
the annexation, 2rd by mfrs. Keithly, motion carried unani.mouss_y.
Paul Winters came before the Q~uncil, saying he was not representing any group
or organization, but he was concerned and disppointed of the article he read
in the Kennedale News of the taking bids to sell the community center and main
fain it as a community ce~~'ste.r for 99 years. He recommended iE .the City do LS n'
want the bldy., it be offered to the Lions International or wished the City
could see fit to make future plans on the bldg. and keep it.
Mr. Biondi Made motion to adjourn, 2nd by Mrs. Kiethly, meeting adjourned
at 9:00 P. M.
