06.10.1971 CC Minutes524 REGULA~2 N(FETING OF TIIE KF_NNEDALE CITY COUNCIL JUNE 10 , 1971 Mayor Platt assembled the meeting at 7:45 P.M. Council members present were John J. Biondi, Jr., J. H. Martin, Bill Bishop an~i B. J. ~ti'atson; Mrs. Keithly being the only absentee. The minutes from the previous meeting were read and approved. Mayor Platt read letter from the Chief of Police requesting a $5.00 raise for his patrolman, Carl Waybourne. htr. Biondi made motion to discuss all employees raises at one time, which would be July 1, 1971. P~4r. Martin 2nd, motion carried unani- mously. iv+ayor Platt read letter signed by four employees, requesting the Council to can- cel all insurance with Woodman of World and that the Council contact another com- pary for insurance on all employees; z~Iso the City stand cost of said insurance fog each employee. Mr. Bishop madt~ motion for them to cancel their own insurance and select another company, the City would sti_11. pay the $7.50 per month, 2nd by blr. Watson, motion carried unanimou~l}r. The Mayor asked P•4rs. Strahan if she was still having problems with hot-rodders, she said she was not. b1r. Strahan said. he would like to express his appreciation to the City and County for. a good job of putting in his driveway cans. Mr. h'.artin inforrn~c9 the Council, Mr. Knotts had contacted him saying there was 40 feet of Briarwood not graded or graveled, this part of Briarwood would have to b e complete in order for him to tie the street together. Mr. BishoF> also said Mr. Knotts contacted him asking if the City would run water line after the street was dedicated. Mr. tti'atson made motion to have Mr. Knotts come hef_ere the Council. at their next meeting, 2nd b}.~ N1r. Bishop; motion carried unanimously. A citizen was present and advised the Council we had two traffic hazards, at Kennedale Sablett Road and Hwy. 287, also one on Kennedal.e Sublett Road and the Lone Star Gas regulator station. Also said the weeds were very high and a gravel truck was always parked at the Fir_a 3tatian obstructing the view of traffic. Mayor Platt asked Mr. i`;artin to take care of this cnatter. D9r. Watson. asked if it would be feasable to have a stop sign on Old Mansfield Cardi- nal Road and Dick Price Woad instead of a yield sign. Mayor Platt suggested he talk with the Chief of Police in regard to these signs. Mr. Marshall. read Ordinance 71-3 r. esci.ndi.ng and cancelling Kennedal a Ordinance 71-2 calling for. a municipal bond election. Mr. Bishop made motion to adopt Ordinance 71-3, 2nd by Tvtr. Martin; motion carried unanimously/. Mr. Marshall. read Notice to Bidders of the proposed sale of the Community Center. The Council agreed to have it published in paper.
