11.09.1972 CC Minutes572 RBGULAR MEETING OF THE KBNNEDALE CITY COUNCIL Nov. 9, 1972 Mayor Childres assembled the meeting at 7:35 P. M. Bro. Wright gave the invoca- t ion . Roll was called, council members present were Mrs. Inez Roy, Steve Radakovich, Mayor Childres, Stanley Jernigan, Bill Bishop; B. J. Watson being the only absentee. The minutes from the previous meeting were read and approved. Pdayor Childres read letter from the Mayor of Pantego asking if it would be possible for Kennedale to dispatch for the City of Pantego, dispatch calls to the Pantego unit by remote radio and answer the phone as Pantego Police Dept. Stating they would install and maintain telephone extension, radio re- mote line and pay the monthly cost. Also this equipment needs to be installed no later than December 1, 1972. Chief Hopson of the Pantego Police Dept. was present, saying they had a four man police dept. but needed a dispatcher. Would like to have a letter signed by the Mayor of Kennedale by Monday in order to present it to their Council. Steve Radakovich made motion to grant this request at a cost of $250.00 per month, Mrs. Roy 2nd; motion carried unanimously. W. S. Miller appeared before the Council, asking for a permit to build a hobby shop, on tract 9 J. M. Bstes Survey, saying the building would be concrete floor and corrugated sheet iron building, and he would not put any hay in the bldg. The Council agreed to this request. Mr. Radakovich sug- gested anyone in the future who wants to build to come before the Council, and pxesent to them what kind of bldgs., construction and the location until he could get more up to date ordinance and bldg. Code. Bill Hester appeared before the Council, saying he had purchased a brick veneer, 6 months ago; three doctors and a dentist is now occuping the bldg. He asked permission to move it to 287, West Mansfield Hwy. He already has a dentist who would work part time here. Mr. Radakovich recommended to table this request until further study. Chief of Police reported the Chamber of Commerce had bought signs for all streets, leading off 287 and would have them put up in about ten days. The Mayor asked the Chief if he had any information on the party whose water had been disconnected. That he had given the party repeated citation, was tried in municipal court and he appealed each one. Mr. Marshall said he would draw up resolution mandatory injunction to remove the trailer; Mr. Jernigan made motion to have Mr. Marshall draw up resolution 72-12 filing suit against Ray LeMay, Mr. Radakovich 2nd motion; carried unanimously. Mayor Childres said he had met with Mayor Vandergriff of Arlington Nov. 2, to see if they couldn't work out something between Arlington and Kennedale. Mayor Childres then read a letter from the City of Arlington with their proposed annexation. And they would have a public hearing Nov. 14, 1972. Mayor Childres asked Mr. Marshall to reply to their letter. Mr. James A. Arthur petitioned for annexation to the City of Kennedale, be- ing 70.875 acres of land out of the 8. T. Beedy Survey, Abst. 72 and the C. Rose Survey, Abst. 1285. Mr. Radakovich made motion to adopt resolution 72-13 setting the date of public hearing Dec. 14, 1972. Mr. Bishop 2nd motion; motion carried unanimously. 573 Cont. of minutes, Nov. 9, 1972 Page 2 At the request of the Chief of Police, the City Secretary asked the Council permission to buy uniforms for the officers and hold it our of their check, which they are allowed $2.00 per week clothing allowance and it is payable in July and December. She was advised_to contact Ladd Uniform Co. and work out s3amething. The CYty Secretary announced Mr. Bryan the Fire Chief invited all employees and officials and their families to a private fish fry Nov. 11, 1972.
