Mayor Childres assembled the meeting at 7:35 P. M. Rev. Wri;;~~t gave the invocation. Roll
was called, Council members present were Mr. s. Inez Roy, Steve Radakovich, Mayor Childres,
Stanley Jernigan, Bill Bishop and 3. J. [v'2LSOT1.
Minutes from the previous meeting were read and approved.
Charles Cook, manager of the Ft. Worth division of the Lone Star Gas Co. with his assistant
Mfr. Peed presented a report on the operations of the Lone Star Gas Co. in this area, and
requested a 5.4 gas rate hike. After a lenghty discussion, Mr. Watson made motion to table
this request at a later date, 2nd by Mr. Radakovich, Mrs. Roy and P•9r. Jernigan vote against,
3 f.or two against, motion carried.
Mayor Childres asked Mr. T•?arshall if he had drawn up an Ordinance, levi_ng the taxes, Mr.
Marshall advised him he had written one, but didn't t~now what portion they wanted i_n the
General and Sinking Fund. Mr. Marshall then read Ordinance 72-1.1 setting the rate 1.35
or. each X100.00 valuati.un and leave the portions until next meeting between the General.
and Sinking Fund. ^?r. Jernigan m^dc motion to retain the 1..35 per $1nn,On valuation
2nd by Mrs. Roy, motion carried unanimously.
Paul Mathis read rnunutes oL- the planning and zoning board for Aug. 24th and Sept. 7, tlc
also advised the tax roll ~.ould be completed tomorrow, then would start billing the
taxes nn Monday. t?ayor Childres advised the Council a uniform bldg. and plumbing code
and an electrical cede had been ordered.
Mr. Jernigan. reported the possibilities of a City Park, he was negotihting with Hud,
but it was almost impossible as li[1D would be cancelled out due to the revenue sharing
but he would Continue to pursue the project, application for grant would have t.o be in
by Oct. 31, 1972.
i•?ayor Childres gave a rep!>rt to the Council nn the well and pump, h.ad sent the old pump
to Tulsa and exchanged it, and believes will pump l?_0,000.00 every 24 hours, but had not
heard from Ft. Worth in regard to the storage tank.
Mayor Childres discussed with the Council of Bonding; all City employees who handles city
money, cast being 7 to 8 dollars per person. 1`tr. Radakovich made motion to have the
employees bonded that needs to be bonded by law, iv?r. Bishop 2nd the motion, carried
unanimously.
Mayor Childres then asked the Council their opinion of taking seal bids on the old n^l ice
car. Mrs. Roy made motion to advertise for bids in the Star Telegram and Kennedale news
and the proceeds t.o be deposited i.n the insurance fund, 2nd by P•9r. Bishop, carried un-

t~tayor Childres advised the c~~uncil he had a survey made of: the business in Kennedale, we
have 64 Commercial and 22 light and heavy industry, which. employees SSl people•
Mayer Childres said he had 2 or 3 discussions with the Chartrber of Commerce and asked ltr.

Mayor Childres said he was goinb to join the Chamber of Commerce and would like for each
Councilman to join.
Mr. Watson advised the Council due to his work schedule from 4 P. NI. until midnight
for a period of three months, he would have to resign unless the Council. agreed for
him to miss 3 meetings. Mrs. Roy made motion approving Mr. Watson missing Y_hree
meetings, 2nd by P~1r. Radakovich, motion carried unanimously.
Mr. Watson made motion to adjourn 2nd by Mrs. Roy, meeting adjourned 9:50 P. M.
