06.08.1972 CC Minutes562 REGULAR MEET G F THE KENNEDALE CITY COUNCIL June 8, 1972 Mayor Childres assembled the me ti .g at 7:40 P.M. Brother Corey led in prayer. Roll was called Council members present w re a Steve Radakovich, Stanley Jernigan, Bill Bishop and B. J. Watson Mrs. Inez Roy being the only absentee. The minutes from the previous meeting were read and approved. Mr. & Mrs. T. W. Folmer came before the Council, asking permission to move a trailer on their property on North Road for one of their employees. After a brief discussion Mayor Childres advised them, under present Ordinance, couldn't see how they could grant this request. Bob Corcoran appeared before the Council stating he was representing the new fire Chief Mr. Bryan, who was unable to be present. Saying Mr. Bryan was making progress of up- grading the Fire Dept. But was in dire need of a dispatcher as they needed communication with other volunteer Fire Depts. He had talked with Bob Bell with Bell Communication, he advised need a remote unit, which would be $350.00 with a $10.00 installation fee, or on a 90 day trial bases at $8.40 a month, asked if they would dispatch from the police Dept. Mr. Watson made motion to grant this request on a 90 day trial bases, 2nd by Mr. Bishop, motion carried unanimously. Karl Halverson gave a report on the police dept. also said he had two ladies in his dept. who had been employed 3 and 2 years and asked they be given a $5.00 a week raise and if necessary deduct it from his salary. Mr. Bishop made motion to grant this request, 2nd by Mr. Watson, motion carried unanimously. Paul Mathis gave a brief report of a meeting held at Ridgelea Country Club by Tarrant Builders Association on May 25, 1972, Guest speaker being William Pitstick, Executive Director of the North Central Texas Council of Governments, who explained the functions programs of future plans. He also informed the Council Mr. Wells, with Transportation Insurance Co. had contacted him in reference of talking with employees about a Cancer Policy pay roll deduction. Mr. Radakovich recommedned they contact the employees and let the employees approach the Council for any request for insurance in the future. Mr. Watson asked Paul Mathis if the new houses had been assessed. Mr. Mathis said he would do it within two weeks. Mr. Watson recommended to the Council to consider the elderly and blind with. an income of $200.00 or less be exempt from paying City Taxes. And when applying for tax exemption would have to show proof that their income is $200.00 or less and have no other in- come before exemption be given. He also suggested the City have plastic bags for gar- bage instead of cans. And would like for the Council to investigate further on storage tank for the paluxy well. Mayor Childres asked Mr. Marshall about the contract with Ft. Worth, Mr. Marshall ad- vised him he had sent it back to Ft. Worth, but hasn't heard from them. Mr. Radakovich informed the Council, Leonard Bros. had bought 200 acres for a million dollars and he had talked with Mr. Hodge with Leonard Bros. in reference of them being annexed into the City. Mr. Hodge informed him he would meet with the Council in a couple of weeks and tie sees no reason why they wouldn't come into the City. He thinks the Council should work for and back the sewer bond. Mayor Childres entertained a motion of going back to one Council meeting a month, 2nd Thursday of each month. Mr. Bishop made motion to have Council meeting once a month, 2nd by Mr. Watson, motion carried unanimously. Mayor Childres advised the Sewer Association, June 13, Burris and Clyde Freeman to ly. Council of a seminar in Arlington of North Central Water and 14, and 15th. Mr. Radakovich made motion to have Norman attend this Seminar 2nd by Mr. Bishop, motion carried unanimous 5l~ Tommy Smith appeared before the Council, stating he an e Chief of Police didn't get along, that his trailer was burgularized and merchandi aken, which was never recovered, the Chief asked him if he took the things, and he didn' ppreciate the Chief implying he was thief. Mayor Childres advised him to talk with the chief about this matter. Mr. Watson made motion to adjourn, 2nd by Mr.. Bishop, meeting adjourned at 9:05 P. M. ~%t'ti~~ Attest: wel D.
