05.25.1972 CC Minutes561 REGULAR MEETING OF THE KENNEDALE CITY COUNCIL May 25, 1972 Mayor assembled the meeting at 7:40 P. M. asking Brother Herb Smith to lead in prayer. Council members present were Mrs. Inez Roy, Stanley Jernigan, Bill Bishop and B. J. Watson; Mr. Radakovich being the only absentee. The minutes from the previous meetings were read and approved. Mrs. Joyce Biondi came before the Council requesting changes in the proposed sewer program to provide sewer to the section of the City in her area. Stating she and several others near her had been promised sewer service for many years, and the sewer program as proposed would service newer addition to the City. She requested the City install a lift station 50ft. or less from the existing sewer line to ser- vice her property, stating estimate cost would be $5,000.00 to $6,000.00. She also stated she had been paying taxes for 27 years without sewer facilities and felt she should be given some tax relief due to the number of years she has paid taxes with- out any sewer service. Mayor Childres advised her direction of sewer line was based on drainage and to try and serve the most populated area. Mr. Bishop stated it is planned for the City to run lines in her area to connect with the trunk line. Mayor Childres asked Mr. Marshall about ordinance covering fruit stands. Mr. Marshall stated the City had no existing ordinance prohibiting or regulating this type of business, but could adopt an ordinance if desired. Mayor Childres stated he had talked with Mr. Bock about a 42,000 gallon water storage tank, and Mr. Bock had advised him the cost of tank would be approximately $700.00 and the bolts and gasket would cost about $900.00; total cost of tank after instal- lation would be approximately $2500.00. Tank would. require pump and switches for proper pressure on the line. Mayor Childres asked him what a new tank would cost, and Mr. Bock advised him a new welded 50,000 gallon tank would cost about $8,500.00 to complete. Mayor Childres suggested the Council investigate further on the need for this type storage tank. Mayor Childres stated Mr. Phillip Miller who lives on Kevin Miller Road had asked permission to build a storage building to store glass used in his business; this is zoned residential. Mr. Marshall advised if building is used as warehouse, it would be against zoning ordinance. Mr. Watson made motion to reject this request, 2nd by Mr. Jernigan; motion carried unanimously. Mr. Marshall read Ordinance 72-7-A setting bond election for June 24th, 1972 for issuance of $140,000 in General Obligation bonds and $140,000 in revenue bonds. After a brief discussion, Mr. Bishop made motion to adopt Ordinance 72-7-A, 2nd by Mrs Roy, Mr. Watson voted against; 3 for, one against; motion carried..
