REGULAR MEETING of the KENNEDALE CITY COUNCIL
DECEMBER 13, 1973
- Mayor Childres assembled the meeting at 7:40 P.M. Bro.Corey gave the invocation.
Roll was called. Council members present were George Lowery, Steve Radakovich,
Mayor Childres, Stanley Jernigan, Bill Bishop, and Lloyd Blanscet. The minuyes
of the previous meetings were read and approved as read.
Mrs. Jackie Harris came before the council to ask that a square dance group,she
is helping to organize, be allowed to use the community centez free. She said
there were about twenty people in their group, including children and the caller
She said that they were not all local people. The council decided that they
could use the building, but, they would be charged the regular fee of $7.50 per
night & be required to make a $10.00 deposit, like everyone else.
Mr.Billy Wilemon came before the council to ask that he be allowed to use the
PVC pipe for his drain. The council discussed this at length, and decided to let
him go on with his plumbing, as long as it was a good installation, since he
started his house before the ordinance was passed. Mayor Childres instructed Mrs.
Templeton to call Bill Arber and tell him of the councils decision.
Mr.Marshall read the Resolution 73-9 which gives Mayor Childres authorization to
execute the contract between the City of Kennedale and Mr.James Haley, and author-
izing the raising of the garbage rates to be effective January 1,1974.
Mayor Childres asked for a motion to accept Resolution 73-9. Mr. Radakovich made
the motion, seconded by Mr. Lowery. The motion carried unanimously.
Mayor Childres advised the council that lightening struck one of our pumps and
that it would cost about $1300.00 to repair it. The council agreed to have it
fixed.
Mayor Childres advised the council that Mr. lfnotts wanted to know if the City
would put a sewer line behind his lots. They agreed to make the sewer available
for him at one end of his property or the other and he could run lines to it.
The council discussed the Massage parlor issue. Mr.Marshall said we could not
outlaw them but we could regulate them. The council asked Mr.Marshall to draw
up something om this.
Mayor Childres said he had met with the zoning board concerning the dumping of
trash across the creek. Don Lyon suggested that we talk to the people in that
area and ask them to petition the city to let them come into the city. Mayor
Childres said he thought Mr.Carter would come into the city if he was asked to.
Mayor Childres gave a report on his meeting with Water Quality concerning the
Grant we have applied for.
Mr.Mathis reported on his meeting on No.29,1973. Docket 11-73-4 on Mr. Gilles-
pies property for zoning chznge from A and E to be changed to G. The Public
Hearing was set for Jan.24,1974.
Mayor Childres maintained a motion to adjourn. Mr.Lowery made the motion to
adjourn, seconded by Mr.Bishop. The meeting adjourned at 10;05 P.M.
