06.14.1973 CC Minutes592 REGULAR MEETING OF THE KENNEDALE CITY COUNCIL JUNE 14, 1973 Mayor Childres assembled the meeting at 7:45 P.M., Mr. Marshall gave the invocation. Roll was called, Council members present were George Lowery, Steve Radakovich, Mayor Childres, Stanley Jernigan, Bill Bishop and Lloyd Blanscet. The minutes of the previous meetings were read and approved. Paul Mathis read minutes of the Special meeting May 31, which was also approved. Mr. Haley, of Haley's disposal, came before the Council told the Council he had met with Edgecliff City Council again and they xere having a meeting with Everman, Forest Hill, Burleson and Crowley, meeting being at the City Hall in Everman at 8:00 P.M. on Monday night. He asked the Council if any of them would attend. Mr. Radakovich, Mr. Lowery and Mr. Blanscet advised they would represent the City of Kennedale. They are trying to get a dumping ground opened, would cost $1,000.00 to $3,000.00 to get in operation. Joe Johnson had told him he would sign a contract for as many years it takes to fill it up. Mr. Ernest Warren and Mr. Jim Bob Simmons asking their property in the Wood survey be re-zoned from A residential to G industrial saying they had been before the Council in 1969 and were of the opinion it had already been re-zoned. Also Tommy Smith, xho was not present, had made application that his 3 acres be re-zoned. Mr. Marshall advised would have to have a public hearing, notify each property owner within 200 feet ten (10) days in advance, also publish in newspaper two weeks. Mayor Childres entertained motion to pay Mr. Frank McMahan as per his statement. Mr. Bishop made motion to pay Mr. McMahan, 2nd by Mr. Radakovich, motion carried unanimously. Mr. Marshall read portion of ordinance 68-8 ammending Ordinance 67-4 on regulating wrecker service. Mayor Childres read letter from Railroad Commissioner requesting an increase in Lone Star Gas Co. hearing to be June 26th. Mayor Childres read letter xritten by Paul Winters concerning a park in the Boaz Estate had offered them $800.00 per acre, this was discussed at length. Paul Mathis informed the Council we had two students from the National Youth Center working 26 hours a week each, at no cost to the City. Tony Dozier working in Water dept, and Becky Stexart in Tax Office. Mayor Childres advised the Council the lady they hired previously had already got another job. He had interview more applicants, and felt Mrs. Templeton has the qualifications for the position as City Secretary, and that he would talk with her again.
