REGULAR MEETING OF THE KENNEDALE CITY CODICIL
January 18, 1973
2~ayor Childres assembled the meeting at 7:45 P. M. Mr. Clyde Marshall gave the
invocation. Roll was called, Council members present were Mrs. Inez Roy, Steve
Radakovich, Mayor Childres, Stanley Jernigan and Bill Bishop.
The minutes from the previous meeting was read and approved.
Mayor Childres advised the Council since we had some people on East Mansfield
Hwy. come before the last Council meeting, wanting sewer, he had an Engineer
out and he gave three estimates, one for 43,000.00, one 68,000.00 and one for
109,000.00. The tytayor recommended to take no action at this time.
Mayor Childres informed the Council of Mr. Stovall of Stovall Cabinet Shop want-
ing to buy the Community Center, saying he would tear the bldg. down and have
it for a parking space. After some discussion, Mr. Rakakovich recommended to
have it appraised. Mayor Childres would do more checking on it.
Mr. Bryan the fire chief came beore the Council, giving a through report of
the fire dept. activities during last year and they had elected new officers,
would like the Councils approval of the new officers. He as Fire Chief, Terry
Cook as fir marshall, Bob Corcoran as secretary treasury. Mr. Radakovich made
motion to accept the elected officers, 2nd by Mrs. Roy, motion carried unanimous-
ly. Mr. Radakovich recommended the City Secretary ask each one who put up a
metex deposit, if they would like to contribute 50 cents per month and it would
be added on their water Lill.
Chief of Police Karl Halverson asked the Council if it was a possible chance
to give his personnel a 5% cost of living raise. Mr. Jernigan said he thought
it should be across the board fox all City employees. Mr. Radakovich would
like a break down on each employee as to salary, duties and length of time they
have been employed by the City. Mayor Childres suggested to have a work shop
meeting following the next Council meeting. The Chief also said we had a drug
problem in the City and Mr. Brown of the school was working with him in this
matter, Chief said we had too many appeals, after some discussion Mr. Radakovich
suggested to write out Court Judge that we were concerned of the many appeals
and ask him if there was some method or manner in which he could reduce so
many appeals.
Paul Mathis advised the Council he had a statement for the Fire Dept. Ins. in
the amount of 131.00 and one for 300.00 from the south east fire fighters
association. Mr. Bishop made motion to pay both bills, 2nd by Mr. Jernigan,
motion carried unanimously. The Council asked the Secxetary to write Mr. Bryan
a letter notifying of the Councils decision.
Mayor Childres advised the Council he had written Senator John Tower and Con-
gressman Dale Milford asking their assistance in learning the status of our
application for Federal Grant. Mr. Charles Jenkins, Mr. Milford's coordinator,
had called him and advised Kennedale had a 96.2 rating and if didn't hear by
the last of Feb., to contact him again. Mayor Childres informed the Council we
already had easements signed, transferring oxar sewer into the Ft. ~nlorth sewer
system. Mayor Childres said he had talked with Mr. DicMahan; he asked authority
to sell bonds as HUD wasn't going to buy them.

Mr. Radakovich stated he had received a call from Floyd Patterson, asking
permission to move a house on Crestview to Patterson Lane, which would be
about 200 feet. There was no action taken at this time.

Mayor Childres informed the Council he had accepted position with Chamber
of Commerce nominating committee, will have election Feb. 13th, have 4
whose terms expires including Norman Lassetter, the president, and if
they knew of any one who would make a good president, to call him.
Mrs. Roy made motion to adjourn, 2nd by Mr. Radakovich; meeting adjourned
at 10:05 P. M.
