Special Hearing of the Kennedale City Council
June 27, 1974
Mayor Pro-Tem Jernigan assembled the meeting at 7s35 P.M. Mr, Pat Turner
gave the invocation. Council members present were George Lowery, Steve
Radakovich, Stanley Jernigan, Bill Bishop, and Pat Turner, Mayor Childres
was absent.
The council discussed the annexation ordinance #74-3 of Ted Cox property.
Mr. Jernigan read the ordinance, Mr. Radakovich made the motion to adopt
the ordinance 74-3, seconded by Mr, Bishop. The motion carried unanimously.
The second. item on the agenda was the zoning ordinance on Mrs. Sarah Alice
Phinks property. Mr, Jernigan asked for a motion to accept the ordinance
# 74-4. Mr. Turner seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously.
The third item was the minimum wage act, which now affects the City. Mr,
Mathis explained this to the council. The minimum wage will be $1.90 per
hour, retroactive to May 1, 1974, The Police dispatchers are the only
people who will be affected by this. The water and tax personnel will be
affected by the overtime amendment. Mr. Jernigan asked for a motion to adopt
the minimum wage amendments to the National Fair Labor Acts of 1974, Mr.
Turner made the motion to comply xith the National Fair Labor Act, seconded
by Mr. Bishop.
Mr. Mathis explained the Insurance plan and cost for liability, medical
and uninsured motorist benefits. This includes five (5) vehicles. The
cost is $521.00. This is an increase of $1,52.00. The council advised Mr,
Mathis to include the Ford tractor, used as a backhoe~ and to investigate
possible coverage of Fire Department Equipment. Mr, Radakovich made the
motion to renew this insurance, seconded by Mr, Lowery, The motion carried
unanimously.
Mr. Jernigan maintained a motion to adjourn, Mr, Lowery made the motion,
seconded by Mr, Bishop. The meeting adjourned at 8:15 P,M,
