10.09.1975 CC MinutesPa~~ 1 of ?. P,BGULAR MEETING OF T?-!E KENNEDALE CITY COUNCIL October 9, 1975 ^~?ayor Childres called the meeting to order at 7;30 PT~?, Pat Turner gave the invocation. P~4embers present were Georges Lowery, Steve '?adakovi.ch, ?~?ayor Childres, Stanley .Ternigan, Bill Bishop and Pat Turner. The minutes of the previous Renular Meeting and the Specia] meeting were read and were approved as read. D?r. Yates read Ordinance# 75-8 which revises the speed zone on U.S. 287 in the Kennedale School Zone. The State is installing flashing linhts at the proper places. The speed limit wil_1 continue to be 35 mi L s per hour in this zone except when the sir~nal is flashing. The speed will be 30 miles per hour when the signal is flashing. Mayor Childres maintained a motion to adopt O.rr'!inance # 75-8. Dir. Turner made the motion. seconded by Mr . .7e r, n i gap . ~~,1~~ Pam Winters came to request that the Council approve a resolution approving a Bicentennial Commission to formulate plans and submit application to both state and nation Bicentennial. Commissions for designation as an Officia]. Bicentennial City. Mr. Yates read resolution # 75-10 which authorizes the Bicentennial Commission. '~Ir. Lowery made the motion to accept Resolution # 75-10 seconded by Dlr. Bishop. The motion carried unanimously. ?~?ayor Childres appointed the following persons to sers~e on the Commission. Stanlnv Jerni.nan; Dargie Lowery, Rhonda Barnes, Pat Diiddleton and Wanda Ellett. Pam Winters will serve as Chairperson of the picentennial Commission. ^~r, vat?s read Resolution # 75-11 which authorizes the City Administrator as being responsible for making app?.ioation for a Park Site Grant. Dlr. Radakovich made the motion t-~ adopt Resolution # 75-11, seconded by D?r. Lowery. The motion carried unanimo»slv. The Council nave Mr. Yates authority to sign a lease purchase agreement on the property from the Boaz Estate, amountin!~ to $50,00 per month, Mr. Yates advised the Council. of the two lots, owned by the City, next to the water works that can be used for a tennis court and playgrc~ur_d . '*-fie can net a parking lot ,road and the tennis court for approximately $ 900.00, a fence for $175.0. The total cost wi1.1 be between $2500.00 to $.3n00,Q0. The City will have to maintain this area.
