06.12.1975 CC Minutess ` 640 Page 1 of 2 REGULAR MEETING OF THE KENNEDALE CITY COUNCIL June 12, 195 Mayor Childres assembled the meeting at 7s30 P.M, Bro. Clayton gave the in- vocation. Members present were George Lowery, Steve Radakovich, Mayor Childres, Stanley Jernigan, Bill Bishop and Pat Ttiirner. The minutes of the previous meetings were read and approved as read. Mrs. Irene Elkins came before the council requesting permission to operate a pottery and gift shop where they could have flowers, plants, snow cones, candy, potato chips, popcorn and sliced barbecue which would be prepared when she received it. She also wants to sell stock trailers, from the factory, mobile homes and camp trailers on conei nment. If the mobile homes and camp trailers were not sold within sixty (60~ days, they would be returned to their owners. She bought the red rock house, that was the Daniels home, at X00 East Mansfield. Highway. The council approved this because she is not in violation of the zon'.ng ordinance. Mr. Elkins then asked if she could move a 12'x24' building in for this purpose. She was advised she could not since our ord- inance prohibits this. She asked if she could build a frame building, on concrete blocks finished to the ground. Mr. Radakovich advised her that tile, masonery, or metal building were required for commercial purposes. She did not understand the zoning ordinance to read this way. The council asked her to cove to City Hall and check rd th Mr. Mathis on this and bring her speci- fications as to xhat she wants, then get her building permit. She thanked the council for their time and agreed to do this. Ken Pearce was not here. Mr. A. W, Bock introduced Mr. Rutherford, from Haltom City, who has been helping with the water samples. Mr. Bock presented a letter to the Mayor and council which contained his recommendations concerning the water and sewer department. A copy of his letter will be attached to the minutes. He recommended that Kennedale have two men licensed in water and sewer. He said it would be permissible if one man were licensed for water and the other licensed for sewer, but it would be better for them to be licensed in both. Mr. Rutherford explained to the council what we need to do and how careful we must be in taking our water samples. He said our samples looked hood, except for one, and that he would be glad to help us in any way he could. Gale Clark requested permission to put in an amusement center in Phillip Biondi's building. Mr. Clark owns C & M Marble company, located in Kennedale at 416 East Mansfield Highway. The council approved this. Ken Elmore, President of the youth association in Kennedale, advised the council that the youth association has thirteen little league teams, in- cluding girls softball, and .that they desperately need a park for these young people. They do not have enough fields for all these teams, without scheduling several games per night. Mayor Childres told him that the Chamber of Commerce is looking at approximately eleven acres to be used for a park. He asked. Mr. Elmore to meet w~_th the Chamber of Commerce and talk with them. They were advised the Chamber of Commerce meets the second Tuesday night of each month. Mayor Childres advised the council that the Mayors Council would have a banquet Monday evening, June 16, and asked if any of the council would like to go. Mr. Jernigan and Mr. Turner agreed to attend the banquet. Mayor Childres recommended that Ned Leonard be appointed to serve on the zoning board effective June 12, 19'75. Mr. Jernigan made the motion, seconded by Mr. Turner. Mayor Childres asked the councils permission to ask Mr. Dan Griffin to serve, in an advisory position, with the zoning commission. The council unanimously approved. Mayor Childres asked that the council meet at his house, Thursday evening, June 19th, at x:30 P,M. for a work session. Mayor Childres maintained a motion to adjourn.
