SPECIAL MEETING OF THE KENNEDALE CITY COUNCIL
December 3, 1977
Mayor Radakovich assembled the meeting at 9:00 A. M. Members
present were Clara Sanderson, Mayor Radakovich, Stanley Jernigan,
Charles Kuykendall and Pat Turner. George Lowery was absent because
he was at work.
The purpose of this meeting was to discuss the Kennedale-Forest Hill
extraterritorial jurisdiction agreetment concerning the Oakcrest
Addition located between Village Creek and Loop 820 that is now in
the County.
The Mayor of Forest Hill, Jackie Larsen, and the Forest Hill City
Manager, Glen Lightford met with the Kennedale City Council this
date. The agreement is that Forest Hill will retain the property
including Oakcrest Drive from Highway 287 to the railroad track,
North to Loop 820 and across loop 820 back to Highway 287 then
South to Oakcrest Drive. Kennedale will retain all of the Mansfield
Highway (287) from our City Limit sign to the Village Creek. Mayor
Radakovich asked if they would be against adding an amendment to the
resolution stating that Forest Hill would annex the property within
six months. Mayor Larsen said they would not be against it, but
if an amendment were made it would require another meeting of her
City Council and would delay the signing of the agreement. Mayor
Larsen said she would be willing to send a letter of intent that
they would annex the property as quickly as possible. Mr. Marshall
read Resolution No. 77-5 Amended. Pat Turner made a motion to adopt
Resolution No. 77-5 Amended with the understanding that the Resolu-
tion will authorize the Mayor to sign the agreement with Forest Hill
apportioning the extraterritorial jurisdiction along this common
line in the agreement. Clara Sanderson seconded the motion. The
motion carried with none opposed. Mr. Marshall is to have this
Amendment ready Mondy, December 5, 1977. Jack Yates will take it
to the Special Meeting at Forest Hill, Wednesday, December 7, 1977.
Mayor Larsen said she appreciated the cooperation of the Kennedale
City Council. She said it has been rumored that the two cities are
fighting and this agreement should dispel that rumor.
Stanley Jernigan made a motion to adjourn. Charles Kuykendall
seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously. The meet-
ing adjourned at 9:45 A. M.
