SPECIAL MEETING OF THE KENNEDALE CITY COUNCIL
MARCH 22, 1977
Mayor Radakovich assembled the meeting at 7:30 P.M. Council members
present were George Lowery, Clara Sanderson, Mayor Radakovich, Stanley
Jernigan, Bill Bishop and Pat Turner. George Lowery gave the
invocation.
The council reviewed the two proposed plans for the new community
center building. There is very little difference in the two plans,
except one is a little larger than the other. The plan with the most
square footage is the plan the City of Everman is using for their
community center building. Mayor Radakovich and Jack Yates went to
Everman recently to see their building. Their building will cost
them $ 68,000.00. We have $ 65,000.00 for our building. The
larger plan (Everman's) includes. the followings
3368 square feet total
a large room 41+'x 50'
seating capacity of approximately 300.
conference room 13' x 15•
office 10' x il'
reception room 6' x 10'
small hallway
each restroom 10' x 12'
Kitchen 7' x 12', double sink, serving bar, etc.
Stanley Jernigan made a motion to adopt Everman's plan for the Community
center building, seconded by George Lowery. The motion carried with
none opposed.
The council asked Jack Yates to get an estimate on tilt walls for the
community center building.
The proposed resolution to increase the mayor and council's compensation
was discussed at length. George Lowery made a motion to adopt Resolution
No 77-6 which xould pay $ 5.00 for each official meeting, seconded by
Clara Sanderson. The motion carried with none opposed.
Jack Yates recommended that the pay increase not apply to Mayor Rad-
akovich, Pat Turner and Clara Sanderson since they would not stand
for election before the increase effective date. The Mayor, and two
Councilmen elected in April 1978 will, according to the approved
resolution, then receive the increase.
The council discussed the proposed purchase of a teletype for the
Police Department. They discussed the possibility of Pantego
sharing in this expense, since Kennedale Police Department dispatches
for them. The possibility was also brought up that they could cancel
this service at any time. Mayor Radakovich recommended we go ahead
and purchase our own. He asked if the council wanted to buy the tele-
type whether Pantego shared the cost or not. He told Jack Yates to
include $ 200.00 per month in the budget for this purpose. Pat

Turner made a motion to buy the teletype whether Pantego joins or
not and approve Resolution No. 77-7 for the purchase, seconded
by Clara Sanderson. The motion carried with none apposed.
Mayor Radakovich told Jack Yates to finalize the purchase of the
teletype.
Mayor Radakovich advised the council that C. D. Pincher and his wife
Mary Elaine were present to discuss whether or not his property was
in the city. They have moved a modular home onto their property,
stating that they believed it was in the county. Jack Yates checked
a copy of their deed which shows it to be in the city. C. D. Pincher
said the 1972 agreement was signed by Mayor Martin, Jack Ray,
attorney for Pincher's and Clyde Marshall, Jr. attorney for Kennedale
stating that his property was in the county. Mr. Pincher asked if
he should get his attorney to take care of this. Mayor Radakovich
recommended that he get his attorney and our attorney together and
decide something.
George Lowery made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Pat Turner. The
motion carried with none opposed. The meeting adjourned at 8s,50 P.M.
