A. Discuss and consider upcoming events
1. Milkweed planting — K. Michels stated that the milkweed plants are still small.
Can wait a couple more weeks before planting. Board members will pick the spot
near the front of Sonora Park with help from R. Taylor and till the soil. City staff
will install the edging and then board members and volunteers will meet on a
Saturday to plant the milkweed. The board selected June 29th as the tentative
date for planting. M. Chandler requested that M. Goza send an email
Wednesday the 26th to inform absent members and remind everyone else that
the planting will take place Saturday June 29, 2019 at 8:30 am. Fall Sweep —
There was a discussion about possible options. The board decided to participate
in the City Cleanup in the Fall rather than host a separate event. L. Hoover
stated that the City wide cleanup is a requirement of the Storm water permit and
is normally held in October. The board can discuss at the next meeting how they
would like to participate. Trunk or Treat — The board plans on participating in this
event.
2. Arbor Day — Board discussed possible tree planting sites. Decided to replace a
dead tree in the street medians this year.
3. Wilda requested that some bushes that are too large for the butterfly garden in
Town Center Plaza be moved out of the bed. M. Chandler suggested that the
bushes could be dug up on the same day the milkweed bed is being tilled. K.
Michels asked L. Hoover if was ok to move the bushes to the empty bed over by
the Senior Citizen building along the fence. L. Hoover said that was fine.
B. Peachjar — KISD
1. M. Goza explained the Peachier online calendar that KISD is using now and that
Mandy Rabelais had stated that KKB could utilize the calendar to advertise
