CALL TO ORDER Chairman Michael Chandler called the meeting to order at 6:03pm It. ROLL CALL Present: Darlene Winters, Wilda Turner, Vinita Thomas, Michael Chandler Absent: Cesar Guerra, Lad"rie Sanders, Dora Ann Markle III. MINUTES APPROVAL Consider approval of minutes from June 12, 2018 regular meeting. Motion to: Approve June 12, 2018 minutes Action: Approve. Moved By: Wilda Turner Seconded: Darlene Winters Motion Passed Unanimously IV. VISITOR/CITIZENS FORUM V. REGULAR ITEMS A. Fall Calendar of Events 1. Bring It Event discussed. Larry Hoover will have more information about who is signed up for the event at the next meeting (Crud Cruiser, recycling, etc). 2. Staff will get hamburgers, hot dogs, buns, signs and other needed items together for the event. 3. No date set for Arbor Day/Trunk or Treat event in October yet. Larry Hoover will get with Leslie Galloway to see when she is planning to have this event and also see what the status of the funding is and if that will be an issue. Will set a date for the event at the next meeting. 4. Larry Hoover said that the board would need to discuss scheduling for the KKB 2019 Calendar at the September board meeting. 5. Staff will be looking at the Keep Texas Beautiful Guidelines and what reporting is required so that we can prepare and submit the yearly reports. Emails were sent to Gloria about work hours in the demonstration garden. Not sure what the deadline is. Need to follow up on that. Larry will tabulate the hours to make sure there are enough to be eligible for continued accreditation. B. Discuss and consider the arbor design for the butterfly garden 1. Three Arbor designs were presented by Kenneth Michaels for the butterfly garden. There was a general discussion of the KKB budget for this fiscal year and for next fiscal year. Larry Hoover stated that he wants to discuss bigger KKB projects for the future. Larry Hoover stated that he is trying to get water to city entrance site in front of the QT this summer with remaining streets and parks funds. Melissa Daily is doing landscape design for the median. The long term goal is to convince Texdot to replace the suicide lane up and down the parkway with landscaped medians possibly based on KKB designs with Texdot approval. 2. Motion to: Approve to build plan B Arbor design for the butterfly garden with western red cedar 2x6's at 22.5 degree, 2x2's at 45 degree with a Home Depot price estimated at $336.70 Action: Approve Moved By: Wilda Turner, Seconded: Vinita Thomas, Motion Passed Unanimously 3. Discussed the Texas sage that was blocking the water sprinkler heads. Kenneth Michaels stated that he had adjusted some of the heads and that one head will be replaced. After that head replacement he felt that the water pattern was fine and did not need any more attention at this time. Riser's may be necessary in the future but right now it looks good. VI. REPORTS/ANNOUNCEMENTS A. Larry Hoover presented the board with the Keep Texas Beautiful Award. Keep Kennedale Beautiful Good Standing Affiliate Award presented June 13, 2018. VII.
