Public ::c>~ring #1- Annexation of Ralph Shelton Property, 103.43 acres of
land, south of Kennedale Sublett between Murray Hill Estate and Jopling Rd.
Approximately 18 persons were present at this hearing. Mrs. Head asked several
questions of Mr. Shelton.
Q- 1~1i11 there be lakes there?
A- Yes
Q- How many acres in lakes ?
Ar Total 15 acres, eight in one lake and seven in the other.
Q- What kind of houses will be built and how much will they cost?
A- 205 lots with cost about $200,000.
Q- Will any lots remain undeveloped?
A- No.
Q- How will you supply water to the lakes?
A We will drill wells to supply the lakes with water.
Q- Will you use windmills on the wells?
A- No.
Q- When do you plan to start construction?
A- As soon as possible, following completion of all processes.
Q- Who will take care of roads and curbs?
A- I will develope them and City will maintain after two years.
Q- Will you have any deed restrictions?
A- Ye s
Q- what Kind?
A- 2,400 square feet with 75 to 80~ masonary construction, rear entry garages,
8 foot pitches on roofs, 25 foot set back building lines, brick construction
mailboxes, and many more.
Q- What kind of drainage will be used?
A- The lakes will handle the drainage.
Q- Are you going to allow fireplaces.
A- We will probably require them.
Q- Are you going to follow the building codes of a fireplace?
A- Made by P~Zayor Taylor- They will follow all building codes of the City
of Kennedale in all phases of construction.
Q- What types of roofs arm you going to have on these homes?
A- Probably wood shingles.
Q- Who will furnish the water and sewer to this area?
A- Kennedale will furnish the water and in cooperation with Arlington, they
will furnish the sewer.
This concluded the questions at this time by Mrs. Head.
T~Ir. Gilbert Smith questioned more about the drainage involved on the property.
The answer came from Mayor Taylor regarding this. It was stated that the State
of Texas made sure that proper drainage occur on all major construction sites.

Mr. Jim Cheevers questioned about the addition to the tax base. P'layor Taylor
answered Mr. Cheevers question, stating that this kind of construction was
much better that that of multi-family complexes that are often found now days.
No others persons had any major questions to be answered or wished to testify
either for or against the annexation question. This meeting was adjourned to
continue into the next public hearing.
Public Hearing #2- Budget for FY 1885-1886
David Thomas addressed the Council regarding the Ballfields located at the
Park. He voiced h_is concern regarding. the safety off' the children and vehicles
parked at the fields during a game. He stated that stray balls were leaving
the playing field. This has presented a problem with damage to vehicles in
the past. He requested that fields be improved, by adding approximately $2,500
to the budget for :fences and extention of backstops. Also lighting fixtures
are needed for the Tee-Ball field. He stated that he would look into donated
labor, if the City would pay the costs for the materials. these items were
instructed to be p:Laced in the budget for ~''Y 1g85-1886.
The Council then reviewed each individual budget item in length. With
no comments, the adjournment of this public hearing occurred at g:48 pm.
