SPECIAL MEETING !SEPTEMBER 14, 2018

WORK SESSION — 12:30 PM I REGULAR SESSION — 2:00 PM
1. CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Brian Johnson called the meeting to order at 12:34 p.m.
II. ROLL CALL
Present: Mayor Brian Johnson; Rockie Gilley, Place 1; Chris Pugh, Place 2; Linda Rhodes, Place
4; Jan Joplin, Place 5; Absent: Mayor Pro Tem Sandra Lee, Place 3 (arrived at 1:22 p.m.)
Staff: City Manager George Campbell, Deputy City Secretary Kathryn Roberson, Finance Director Brady Olsen, Human
Resource and Administrative Services Director Danielle Clarke, Library Director Amanda King, Police Captain Darrell
Hull Director of Planning and Economic Development Melissa Dailey, Streets /Parks Superintendent Larry Hoover,
Backflow /CS Inspector Dennis Brown, Streets /Parks Crew Chief Ron Taylor
III. WORK SESSION
A. Continued discussion of the City Manager's FY2018 -19 budget proposal
Finance Director Brady Olsen presented highlights of the various proposed budget fund
options from the September 6, 2018 Budget Work Session. The proposed
Over 65 Exemption was discussed by members of the Council.
Mayor Pro Tem Sandra Lee arrived at the meeting at 1:22 p.m.
Melissa Dailey, Director of Community Planning and Economic Development, presented
highlights of the proposed Safe Routes to School initiative to Council. Finance Director
Brady Olsen summarized the budget recommendations and presented the Tax Rate
proposal to Council.

A. Public hearing on the Fiscal Year 2018 -2019 Tax Rate

4. Announcement of Date of Vote on Tax Rate
There was an announcement that the tax rate would be voted on by Council on September
17, 2018.

There was continued discussion relative to the budget and the proposed Council Chambers
audio contract. City Manager George Campbell updated Council on the Arlington Water
Contract negotiations.
V. ADJOURNMENT
Motion To Adjourn. Action Adjourn, Moved By Gilley, Seconded By Pugh. Motion passed
Unanimously.
Mayor Pro Tem Lee adjourned the meeting at 2:29 p.m.
