IV. VISITOR/CITIZENS FORUM
V. REGULAR ITEMS
A. Discuss Kennedale Youth Association football practice being held at Sonora Park. The
parking issue has since been handled and is now under control by the Commissioner Eric
Ryals, he has spoken to his team parents.
B. Pokemon Go mapping for the City of Kennedale, City staff recommends anyone who
would like to give specific locations the staff will be happy to add that to the City's website
to get children out to the local parks. Jeff Nevarez would simply like to see these types of
games be a big reason for people to get out into the parks and play instead of staying
inside watching television. The only objection Michael Chandler would have is people
climbing on any type of memorials we have inside the City. The Park Board would like
the City to look into posting a sign not to climb on or touch the local memorials or possibly
having a sign that is mobile.
C. Kennedale City Park Development Partnership with Texas Parks &Wildlife. The city
would certainly like to keep a relationship going with and we would still like to be able to
have the pond stocked each year with trout in January every year.
D. Consider changing the Splash Pad at Sonora Park from a gun to a more family friendly
sprayer or spout. The Park Board would like to extend their sympathy for Ms. Mata's loss
however due to monetary issues the Park Board will consider replacing the gun at the
Splash Pad with a more family friendly sprayer when the current one breaks or is torn
down

Beautiful Board.
VI. REPORTS/ANNOUNCEMENTS
A. A blue-algae bloom sprouted this summer and killed a total of 5,233, and this happened
all over the state of Texas. When the algae blooms it creates oxygen, but when it dies it
takes away all the oxygen and kills the fish at that time. The two air pumps we have at
the pond at this time are really not enough so the City is looking into getting a portable
air pump that is run by staff beginning in the spring to combat the blue algae bloom.
B. The Senior Living Center is coming along trees have been taken out where driveways
will be laid. They will soon be tying in the water and sewer lines.
C. The Boy Scouts had a rocket launch at the first of October, it was very successful. They
thanked the City and said they had a great time.
D. October 22, 2016 Community Day was a huge success! Clean up day at the landfill,
National Bring It day was at Town Center and the Police Department were collecting
medications.
