Consider approval of minutes from February 3, 2016 IV.VISITOR/CITIZENS FORUM At this time, any person with business before the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board may speak to the Board. All comments must be directed towards the Chair, rather than individual board members or staff. All speakers must limit their comments to subject matter relating to the board. No formal action can be taken on these items. A. Kennedale Citizens Group to name Sonora Park Island V. REGULAR ITEMS A. Consider approval of Girl Scouts Troop#3538 adopting Rodgers Farm Park through the Adopt A Spot program B. Verification of attendance to UTA to discuss Park Master Plan as well as any discussion for the Park Master Plan VI. REPORTS/ANNOUNCEMENTS A. Brickworks Festival April 15th, 16th and 17th at Town Center Park. CALL TO ORDER Chair David Deaver called the meeting to order at 7:00pm II. ROLL CALL Present: Azam Shaikh, Jeff Nevarez, Dylan Black, David Deaver, Alan Pederson Absent: Michael Chandler, Glenn Shark III. MINUTES APPROVAL Consider approval of minutes from January 6, 2016 regular meeting. Motion to: Approve January 6, 2016 minutes with changes Action: Approve. VISITOR/CITIZENS FORUM Athena Seeton and Leone] DeSosa they are students from UTA here to discuss the Park Board Master Plan We would like two or three volunteers to go to UTA to discuss the Park Master Plan, Azam Shaikh, Jeff Nevarez, Azam Shaikh and David Deaver will be going. It will be held in room 405 4th floor architecture building at 6:00pm The Park Board would like some contemporary ideas on the Park Master Plan that will be presented to the City. V. REGULAR ITEMS A. Naming the island in the middle of Sonora Park 1. The Park Board would like to send a recommendation to City Council to name the island Fleniken's Island 2. The fundraising should be done by the group of citizens who would like to see this happen, the Park Board would like to see a proposal of what they plan to do with costs included to bring before the Park Board for approval or for more recommendation. VI. REPORTS/ANNOUNCEMENTS A. Brickworks Festival is scheduled for April 15th 16th and 17th at Town Center Park, volunteers are appreciated. Kid Fish is May 21, 2016 8am— 12pm, Bark in the Park will be 10am—2pm, City staff will be preparing the area for additional parking as Bark In the Park will be moved from the pavilion to the front end open area of the park instead. National Kids in Park day is to get kids to go to the park, be active and to get more money budgeted for more outdoor activities C. Sonora Park pond was stocked with 1700 trout on January 13, 2016 D. Bloxom Park is an industrial are being built for economic development E. 144 units will be placed close to Sonora Park which will be Senior Assisted Living Facility, hopefully underway close to the end of this month F. Sidewalk Project is about two—three weeks away from being completed G. The Street department has been out taking care of trees, mulching and trimming them along the Parkway H. The Vineyards Phase I is completed and one house has already been occupied. Phase II should be finalled out in the next couple of months I. The City's water rates have been increased to provide safe, quality drinking water. The City must look at the water rates every few years as costs go up to help us sustain maintenance vs. quality. The City will require more storage so we can continue to provide quality and state mandated water. As the wells get older they become more of a hassle to maintain. The City is looking at connected and buying water from The City of Arlington. VII.ADJOURNMENT Motion to: Adjourn Action: Adjourn.
