CALL TO ORDER Chair Ashley Luu called the meeting to order at 4:36PM. II. ROLL CALL Present: Ashley Luu, Emily Beck, Nadeya Patel, Morgan Biscoe, Nicholas Johnson, Danielle Quaye, Shelby Flowers, Alison Villaire, Jillian Melbourne, Samantha Randolph Staff Present: Bob Hart, City Manager III. REPORTS/ANNOUNCEMENTS A. Discuss Texas Independence Day Parade (April 18 or 17th) Mr. Hart reported that the city is considering combining Art in the Park-now renamed the Bricks Works' festival-with the Texas Independence Day Parade. Additionally, the city is considered other community events such as a possible marathon or pet parade. The YAC discussed ways they could be involved with prom, such as hair spray, tile painting, or masquerade masks projects for the youth. B. Discuss Improvements and Developments in the City of Kennedale. Mr. Hart reported that the city has just completed a hydrologic study, which would be used to plan the tentative hike and bike trails. Additionally, he reported that all of the Kennedale tributaries had been renamed. The YAC discussed the advantages of a high speed wireless internet for the city. Mr. Hart reported that there were several inexpensive options to provide better internet for the community. The YAC reviewed the idea of building a bridge over the railroad tracks that run through the city. Mr. Hart reported that the city would be working with companies, such as a glass company and electrical company, that could be used to generate more sales tax for the city. The YAC discussed the possibility of attending the upcoming city council meeting on Monday, January 19, 2015, to observe the improvements that are being made in the city. Mr. Hart reported that the council members would be discussing water quality, zoning, and a senior housing conversation. C. Schedule Tour for February Meeting with Fire Department. The YAC finalized plans for the tour of the Fire Department. Ashley reported that the tour could last up to 1-2 hours. Mr. Hart reported that the YAC could hold the meeting in the fire department's 405 Municipal Drive, Kennedale, TX 76060 1 Telephone: 817-985-2100 1 Fax: 817-478-7169 conference room. The YAC voted that it would be best to meet at the fire department at 4:OOPM. The YAC agreed that a special meeting on Thursday, February 5, could be held at 4:30PM in order to replace the lost meeting at the fire department. D. Discuss Possible Dates for Food Truck Event. The YAC scheduled a tentative date for Thursday, May 7, 2015, from 5-8PM. Other community activities for that date were also discussed, such as volleyball or other sport. Ashley reported that committees would be set up at a later date. E. Discuss Application Timeline for 2015-2016 Applicants. Ashley reported that the YAC should begin looking at potential YAC applicants. Being mindful of the fifteen person limit, the YAC members decided to keep the applicants to a minimum. Ashley reported that the YAC would be encouraging potential applicants in mid-February. VI. ADJOURNMENT Motion To adjourn. Action Adjourn, Moved By Emily Beck, Seconded By. Cameron Johnson.
