08/11/1988, Budget Work Session Minutes1562
Kennedale City Council
Budget Work Session - August 11, 1988
Community Center
Mayor Steve Radakovich called the meeting to order at 9:12 p.m.
Members present were Steve Radakovich, Bill Abbott, Pete Kirkpatrick
and Mark Wright. Jerry Mitchell was absent.
City Administrator Ted Rowe presented councilmembers basic information
regarding the General Fund portion of the City Budget for Fiscal Year
1988-89. Projections for revenues indicated that most revenue would
be approximately the same as for the current year. However, interest
income was projected to increase by 25% from $48,000 to $60,000. A
decrease was projected in sales tax revenue from this year's estimate
of $285,000 to $235,000.
Budget expenditures were expected to increase in order to continue
operations at the same level, but, to add additional personnel in the
Finance, Fire, and Police Departments, purchase two new police patrol
cars and approximately $15,000 of other essential equipment. The projected
expenditures reflect an increase from $1,058,305 for the current Fiscal
Year (87-88) to approximately $1,100,134. However, the increased figure
includes a 3% pay raise for City employees which may be removed in order
to stay within the projected revenues.
More exact revenue projections are expected from utility companies which
pay franchise taxes to the City. These figures are expected in time to
present to the Council at the next Budget Workshop.
Motion was made by Bill Abbott, seconded by Mark Wright, to adjourn the
work session at 11:30 p.m. Motion carried unanimously.
