Regular Meeting - May 12, 1988

Mayor Steve Radakovich called the meeting to order at 7:40 p.m.
Members present were Steve Radakovich, Jerry Mitchell, Bill Abbott and
Mark Wright. Pete Kirkpatrick and John Mallory were absent.
Ted Rowe gave invocation.
Mayor Radakovich presented a proclamation declaring the week beginning
May 8, 1988 as Senior Citizen Week.
Consent Agenda
ITEM NO. 1 - Approval of minutes of a pre-council meeting and regular
meeting April 14, 1988.
Minutes dated April 14, 1988 were approved as submitted.
ITEM NO. 2 - Appointment of City Secretary.
Motion was made by Jerry Mitchell, seconded by Mark Wright, to appoint .
Linda Jones as permanent City Secretary. Motion carried without opposition.
ITEM NO. 3 - Canvass of May 7th Election and Administration of Oath
of Office.

Don Driver administered the Oath of Office to Mayor Steve Radakovich and
Councilmen Jerry Mitchell and Bill Abbott.
Motion was made by Mark Wright, seconded by Bill Abbott, to accept the
results of the election and installation of the mayor and councilmen.
Motion carried without opposition.
ITEM NO. 4 - Approval of contract with Tarrant County Fire District.
Motion was made by Bill Abbott, seconded by Jerry Mitchell, to approve
the contract with Tarrant County Fire District beginning 12/1/87 through
11/30/88. Motion carried unanimously.
ITEM NO. 6 - Request for back-up water service to Hillcrest Water Company.
Mr. Herb Madison requested a back-up water service from Kennedale for
emergency purposes. Hillcrest water system has access to the Forest Hill
system, but received a letter of refusal to hook onto their system.
Mayor Radakovich offered to sell an old storage tank for back-up water
storage.
Motion was made by Bill Abbott, seconded by Mark Wright, to deny back-up
water service to Hillcrest Water Company. Motion carried unanimously.
ITEM NO. 5 - Presentation and approval of Wellhead Protection study.
Mr. Brad Cross of the Texas Water Commission presented a preliminary report
that summarized the hydrogeology and proposed wellhead protection strategy
for Kennedale. WHP is a voluntary program at this time, but will probably
be mandatory within the next five years. Brad Cross is to furnish a copy
of an ordinance from the City of Del Rio designed to protect the drinking
water supply.
No action was taken on this item.
Ted Rowe informed the Council that the water line being installed on Little
School Road lacked approximately 10' to be complete.

There being no further business, motion was made by Jerry Mitchell, seconded
by Bill Abbott, to adjourn the meeting at 8:55 p.m. Motion carried unani-
mously.
