11.16.2004 EDC Minutes187 MINUTES OF KENNEDALE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING — NOVEMBER 16, 2004 405 MUNICIPAL DR. — KENNEDALE MUNICIPAL BLDG. CONFERENCE ROOM President Vaughn called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m. Members present: President Vaughn, Mundy, Morris, and Knox. Norwood arrived at 7:05 p.m. Members absent: Hayes and Munn. Staff present: David Miller, Executive Director; Margaret Eichelberger, Economic Development Director; and Kathy Turner, Secretary. A. REGULAR ITEMS 1. Approval of minutes: regular meeting dated September 21, 2004. Rob Morris moved to approve the minutes as submitted, second by Robert Mundy. Morris, Mundy, Vaughn voted aye, with Knox abstaining. Motion carried. Note that Norwood arrived after vote on minutes. 2. Review of financial reports. Board members reviewed financial reports from the month ending October 31, 2004. 3. Review and approval of final plans for city entrance. A brief discussion took place with Frank Callahan representative with Callahan and Freeman regarding the city entrance monument. Robert Mundy moved to approve the final plans for the city entrance monument, second by Rob Morris. Motion carried. 4. Consider and discuss Community ID. Mr. Joe Fackel, Vice President of Buxton provided an overview of what the Buxton Company offers to its clients by identifying retailers that best fit the characteristics of a City through a program called Community ID. Rob Morris moved to accept Buxton Community ID and Community Program as a project. Rob Morris moved to amend his motion to accept Buxton Community ID and Community Program to include any and all marketing for retail, restaurants, relocation of businesses, and marketing for such including commercial, manufacturing and those businesses that draw primary jobs. Motion second by Robert Mundy. Motion carried. 188 B. PRESIDENT/BOARD ANNOUNCEMENTS/REPORTS 1. President Announcements/Reports President Vaughn welcomed new members, Marsha Knox and Jim Norwood to the board. 2. Board of Directors Announcements/Reports A brief discussion took place regarding tax abatements and it was noted that City Council was the only one who had authority to grant abatements; however, the economic development corporation could provide grants to assist businesses.
