10.19.1995 PZ MinutesMINUTES OF PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION 19 OCTOBER 1995 COMMUNITY CENTER David Conroy, acting in Charles Gray's absence, called the meeting to order at 8:36 p.m. Commission Members present: David Conroy, Cliff Hallmark, Glynn Cavasos and Sandra McCraw. Charles Gray and Ralph Warner were absent. City Staff present: Ted Rowe, City Administrator Michael Box, Director of Development and Fnforcement Mort Wetterling, Permits /Code Compliance Department ITEM NO. 1 - Approval of the minutes of the Public Hearing and the Regular Meeting of the Planning and Zoning Commission of 17 August 1995. Glynn Cavasos made a motion to accept the minutes. Cliff Hallmark seconded the motion and all Members voted in favor. ITEM NO. 2 - Commission discussion relative to the continuing need to fill vacancies on the Planning and Zoning Commission. Commission members had been provided with copies of the applications of two new prospective members and they were advised that the City Council will be reviewing the applications of both Bryan Lankhorst and Danny Robinson during the 9 November 1995 Council meeting. Ms Sandra McCraw was recently appointed to the Commission by the Council and she was in attendance at this meeting. David Conroy introduced the Commission and Staff to Mr. Jerry Miller who attended the meeting for the purpose of observing the proceedings. Mr. Miller later advised that he will be acquiring an application to submit for Council consideration. ITEM NO. 3 - Commission discussion relative to their plan of action as it relates to the required re -write of certain outdated City Ordinances. Commission members agreed that a re -write of the Sub Division Ordinance merited the highest priority but felt that such a project should be approached after all of the new Commission members, as well as those absent, were in attendance and as a result, Glynn Cavasos made a motion to table the project until a later date. Cliff Hallmark seconded the motion and all voted in favor. City Staff advised that Ralph Warner had stated that he had copies of Sub Division Ordinances from two or three other municipalities and that upon receipt of same, Staff would make and provide copies to the Commission members. DISCUSSION A short discussion took place relative to the watershed and drainage problems being encountered in the area between Little School Road and Shady Creek. Michael Box solicited volunteers, from the Commission, to serve for approximately three hours on Saturday, 28 October 1995 during the Household Hazardous Waste Day operation. He also advised that this year's Fall Cleanup Day, in Kennedale, will be held on Saturday, 4 November 1995. No additional discussion was required and as a result, Glynn Cavasos made a motion to adjourn. Cliff Hallmark seconded the motion and all voted in favor.
