PLANNING 11. ZONING COMMISSION

LAW ENFORCEMENT CENTER
Mr, Ted Rowe called the meeting to order at 7:30 PM,
Members present were janna Brimer, Glynn Cavasos, Dili Cromer,
Chuck Gray and Cliff Hallmark. Roger Hurlbut and Mary Salinas were
absent.
Staff in attendance was Ted Rowe.
Mr. David Lewis, President of Governmental Services Agency, Inc,
and Kirk Franklin were present to brief P&Z n the status of the
rewrite of the zoning ordinance. Mr. Lewis stated that they were
in the data gathering mode, which is the process of gathering olI
the information that might have an impact on zoning/development
within the City of Kennedale. Mr, Lewis has visited with the Gity
of Arlington and has plans to visit City of Forest Hills. Mr.
Lewis said the surrounding cities are interested in what Kennedale
has plans for because it will be an impact on them and visa versa.
He will also look into the surrounding master plans and see how
they tio into,Kennedale's master plan. Mr. Lewis will also gather
information. from cities in similar size to see what is working for
them. The next step will be to talk to key leaders within the
city, as well as, the planning and zoning commission, city staff,
and city council. They would like input from staff of anyone they
feel GSA could talk with to get idea if they have any e:perince
with zoning, what there perception was, what are some of the
problems they perceive in the community with land use issues and
development. Mr. Lewis presented a sample questionnaire that ho
would use to gather his information, He would visit with people
and gather his information from this sheet. 11- is shooting for
August 30, to complete his interviewing. After he is through with
this and has his information completed than he would like to
schedule some meetings with P&Z to discuss the issues, then the
next three months will be sifting through the existing ordinances
taking one section at a time:
Mr. Lewis then asked P&Z if they had anyone in mind that would he a
good candidate to visit or if they had any suggestions/changes to
the questionnaire, tit Gray replied that he had a list of people
he felt should be contacted for information and presented it to Mr,
Lewis,
Janna Brimer felt non conforming businesses should be addressed,
and the zoning along Little School Road should be studied.
Chuck Gray stated that park areas should b included on the
questionnaire, and environmental concerns should b1. considered.
There being no further discussion, Glynn Cavasos made a motion for
adjournment, second by Cliff Hallmark. Motion carried.
Meeting adjourned at 840 PM.
