04.13.1981 PRB MinutesSPECIAL MEETING KENNEDALE PARK BOARD April 13, 1981 Mayor Steve Radakovich assembled the meeting at 7:10 P. M. Members present at the meeting were Margie Lowery, Irene McDavid and Rae Brandt. Members absent were Frankie Luttrell and Melvin Cooper. Council member in attendance was Mayor Steve Radakovich and Mel Justice was Staff member present. Mayor Radakovich chaired the meeting since there were no Board Officers present and the President position was vacant. Mayor Radakovich explained to the members that with the assignment of new members to the Board he wished to explain the duties and responsibilities of the Board and have members elect a new President since Bob Patterson had resigned. All members were given copies of Ordinance No. 77 -22 which established the Board and outlined its duties and responsibilities and copies of the Rules on Community Center use, Community Center reservation requests and reservation request for the baseball fields. Mayor Radakovich clarified and expanded on items contained in Ordinance 77 -22 and gave a rundown on the present status of the Center and City Park. After discussion of the duties of the Board by acclamation the Board reaffirmed the appointment of Frankie Luttrell as Secretary. Mayor Radakovich called for a nomination for President and Irene McDavid nominated Rae Brandt, seconded by Margie Lowery. There was no other nominations and Rae Brandt was selected President by unanimous vote. The Board inquired as to the status of Park improvements and Mel Justice informed the Board that four picnic tables, two water fountains and two Bar -B -Q grills have been placed in the section of the Park on New Hope Road and a contract has been awarded for the installation of two more tables and a road and parking lot in the Park on New Hope Road. He further explained that the Board should review the needs and requirements for the Park and Community Center and submit recommendations to the Council.
