03.14.1980 AB MinutesMEETING OF THE KENNEDALE AMBULANCE BOARD
March 14, 1980
The Kennedale Ambulance Board convened at 12:00 noon,
March 14, 1980 in the Community Center for a scheduled
meeting. Present at the meeting were Dr. William Harris,
Chairman, George Lyon, Vice- Chairman, Board members Glen
Long and James Smith, Council member Steve Radakovich
and Staff member Mel Justice.
The minutes of the February 22, 1980 meeting were
accepted as presented.
A representative of the Communications Division of
Harris Corporation was present to discuss equipment
required for making the ambulance radio compatible
for use in communications with area hospitals. After
discussion the Board agreed instead of a digital decoder
a digital encoder would be required and the purchase order
should be changed to reflect this requirement.
The subject of dress code for ambulance attendants was
brought up and the Board was of the opinion that the
smocks now on order would solve any problems being
experienced reference dress code.
The Board discussed a letter received from Council
whereby that body voted to suspend Rick Cain from doing
any ambulance service duty for a 60 day period. The
Board agreed to accept the Council suspension and leave
any further action regarding Rick Cain up to James Smith's
prerogative after 60 days .
Glen Long reported he had no final report to give on
caps for those involved in the ambulance service.
The Board discussed the problem of some people calling
for ambulance service when apparently it wasn't required.
However, it was the consensus of the Board that it would
not be in the best interest of safety and /or doing a
humane service to refuse service when called unless a
qualified doctor could make an on -the -spot decission.
The Chairmancalledthe next meeting of the Board at 12:00
noon at the Community Center on April 11, 1980.
The Board adjourned at 1:10 P.M.
