02.08.1980 AB MinutesMEETING OF THE KENNEDALE AMBULANCE COMMITTEE February 8, 1980 The Kennedale Ambulance Committee convened at 12 :00 noon, February 8, 1980, in the Community Center for a scheduled meeting. Present at the meeting were Dr. William Harris, Chairman, George Lyon, Vice- Chairman, Committee members Glen Long and James Smith, Council member Mayor Steve Radakovich and staff member Mel Justice. The minutes of the January 25, 1980 Committee meeting were accepted as presented. James Smith reported he had contacted Mansfield and Forest Hill ambulance services referenced a back up reciprocal agreement and that Mansfield had agreed to furnish a back up. Forest Hill requested, a letter be written to their repre- sentative requesting such agreement and the Chairman directed such action be taken. A financial status report was given the committee by Mayor Radakovich and Mel Justice and the Mayor reported he had received additional support for the ambulance service from two businesses. The feasibility of furnishing volunteers on call with "beepers' was discussed and it was the consensus that although this was an excellent idea due to budgetary limitations further study in this matter is required. The committee was presented a bid for the purchase of a radio for use in the ambulance with the cost of the radio to be $1,700. After discussion the committee was in agreement that the radio is vitally needed in the operation of the ambulance and should be acquired. Vice Chairman Lyon is to check in to whether the radio might be donated and if not to proceed with ordering the radio from Harris Corporation. Two possible designs for shoulder patch emblems for ambulance volunteers were submitted to the committee for consideration and committee member James Smith informed the committee as to which of these designs was preferred by the volunteers. It was the consensus of the members that the design selected by the volunteers should be the official emblem for the Kennedale Ambulance Service. Committee member Glen Long informed the committee he would check in to acquiring caps for the volunteers and report back on the status of this acquisition. The committee discussed the need for a spare tire and wheel for the ambulance and it was the consensus of the members that these should be acquired without further delay. Mayor Radakovich reported he had spoken to the School Board on that body's making a contribution to the Ambulance Service Fund and should receive an answeriin the near future, The Chairman called the next meeting of the committee at 12 :00 noon in the Community Center on February 22, 1980.
