January 25, 1980
The Kennedale Ambulance Committee convened at 12:00
noon, January 25, 1980, in the Community Center for
a scheduled meeting. Present at the meeting were
Dr. William Harris, Chairman, Committee member
James Smith, Council member Mayor Steve Radakovich
and staff member Mel Justice.
The minutes of the January 14, 1980 Committee meeting
were accepted as presented,
The proprosed ordinance establishing an Ambulance
Board was discussed and it was recommended that the
ordinance be presented to the City Council for adop-
tion with paragraph a of Section II being amended to
include "while at work only ", relative to employees
at businesses being furnished ambulance service.
Motion carried,
The feasibility of expanding the boundaries for those
eligible to join the ambulance service to include the
Fire District was discussed. After consideration of
this expansion it was the consensus of the Committee
that there should be no change in membership eligibility
for at least another 30 to 60 days so an evaluation of
the operation may be made.
The chairman asked James Smith to contact adjacent
communities and inform them Kennedale is interested
in a back up ambulance reciprocal agreement and report
back to the Committee these communities feelings.
The chairman again stressed the need to caution all
ambulance personnel in the operation of the ambulance
and the need for insuring safe efficient operations.
A financial report on the ambulance fund was presented
to the Committee by Mel Justice.
The possible need for added supplies in the ambulance was
discussed it was decided that a bottle of sterile water
should be available, a 6 volt lantern type flashlight
should be purchased and additional 4" x 4" boxes of
gauze should be purchased.
The chairman called the next meeting of the Committee at
12;00 noon in the Community Center on February 8, 1980.
The Committee adjourned at 2 :00 P.M,
