REGULAR MEETING OF THE KENNEDALE PARK BOARD
October 2, 1979
The Kennedale Park Board convened at 7:35 P.M., October
2, 1979 in the City Hall in regular session. Present
at the meeting were Bob Patterson, President, Frankie
Luttrell, Secretary and Irene McDavid, Member. Mel
Justice was staff member in attendance.
The minutes of the July 2, 1979 Board meeting were
accepted as presented with no changes.
The Board Considered a request from Senior Citizens,
Inc. to install two signs at the Community Center id-
entifying the Center as a meeting place for senior
citizens. Motion was made by Frankie Luttrell, seconded
by Irene McDavid, that the Board recommend approval of
this request to City Council, subject to the sign to be
installed on the facade of the building being moved when
the City installs a sign on the building with the City
name designation. Motion unanimously approved.
Frankie Luttrell brought to the Board's attention the
fact that Bill Bishop and Stephen Love have missed
three consecutive meetings and City Ordinance 77 -22
stipulates this occurence results in removal from
the Board. It was the unanimous consesus of the Board
that the President request the City Council to replace
these two members on the Board.
Mrs. McDavid inquired as to the status of the picnic
tables from Dave Bloxom and Mel Justice reported he
had spoke to Mr. Bloxom on October 2, 1979 and Mr.
Bloxom indicated he would take necessary action to
get the tables to the park as soon as possible.
The use of the dedicated but unused road North of the
baseball fields for parking purposes was again discussed
and the staff was asked to get with the City Attorney
again to determine whether the City might use this site
for parking and what legal action would be necessary for
the closing of this dedication and converting this land
to parking use.
The date for dedication of the Center was discussed and
the Board indicated it would be agreeable to December 1,
1979 date, in conjunction with a Martin Frost town hall
meeting, so long as the time was after 2:00 P.M. on sub-
ject date. The staff as requested to contact Martin Frost's
office to determine if this time would coincide with their
plans.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned at
9:05 P.M.
