REGULAR MEETING OF THE KENNEDALE
PARK BOARD
MAY 1, 1979
The Kennedale Park Board convened at 7;30 P.M., May
1, 1979 in the City Hall to discuss various park pro-
jects. Present at the meeting were Bob Patterson, Pre-
sident, Frankie Luttrell, Secretary, Bill - Bishop, Mem-
ber, Irene McDavid, Member, Wayne Winters, Council Ad-
visor and Stephen Love, Ex- Officio Member. Mel Justice
was staff member in attendance.
The Minutes of the April 3, 1979 meeting were read and
President Patterson called attention to the omission of
Board Member Verlin Arter's name as being present at
the April 3, 1979 meeting. Minutes were officially ac-
cepted with such minutes to include Verlin Arter in
attendance.
The Board discussed furnishings for the Center and ask-
ed what progress had been made in this matter. Broad was
informed a large refrigerator had been donated by Mrs.
McDavid's mother for use in the Center and to date
there has been no adequate stoves available at Texas
Surplus for purchase. Wayne Winters informed the Board
he is working on the possibility of obtaining a stove
as a donation for the Center and would keep the Board
informed of his progress. After general discussion of
what would be required in the Center the Board conclu-
ded it would be best to wait until a measurement can be
made of square footage available for use in Center before
proceeding with the purchase of chairs and tables.
It was mentioned that the poles at the old ballfield on
the school ground are down and the Board wished the poles
be moved to storage as soon as possible. Mel Justice st-
ated that the matter would be taken care of as early as
possible.
After a discussion of the problems being experienced
with parking at the ballfields the Board stated its
desires to have a letter forwarded, by the President,
to the President of the KYA soliciting his cooperation
in this matter.
Letter is to be forwarded outlining the problems and
offering the assistance of the City if necessary.
The Board asked the staff to check on the status of the
dedication of 8th Street, adjacent to the park, to det-
ermine if the street is still a dedicated right -of -way
and if it could be opened and possibly in cooperation
with the park.

After discussion of the placing of a permanent type
fence around the outfield of the Mustang ballfield
it was the consensus of the Board that this question
was resolved at the Kennedale Youth Association to
place a temporary fence around the outfield of the
Bronco Field with such fence to be removed at the end
of ball playing season.
After discussion of reservation of the ballfields, on
days when the KYA does not have games scheduled, it
was moved by Bill Bishop, seconded by Irene McDavid,
that:
a. Reservations for a given time and date may be
accepted up to six months in advance with per-
sons and /or organizations being able to reserve
any number of nights they desire during this
period. One stipulation to be included was to
the effect that if a person had a reservation
and did not use the field for that time the
City would be informed 48 hours in advance
or the person would be charged a minimum of
two hours for light usage.
b. Reservations for Sundays usage would be acce-
pted only on a week to week basis.
Motion carried.
The Board discussed the time of future meetings and
agreed to change the hour to 7:00 P.M. instead of 7:30
P.M.
