REGULAR MEETING OF THE KENNEDALE
PARK BOARD
APRIL 3, 1979
The Kennedale Park Board convened at 7 :30 P.M., April
3, 1979 in the City Hall to discuss park projects.
Present at the meeting were Bob Patterson, President,
Frankie Luttrell, Secretary, Bill Bishop, Member,
Irene McDavid, Member and Stephen Love, Ex- Officio
Member. Mel Justice was staff member in attendance.
The Minutes of the March 6, 1979 meeting were offic-
ially accepted as presented.
The purchase of furnishings for the Community Center
was discussed and after looking into all aspects of
the Center operation the Board established the foll-
owing priorities for purchase of furniture and appl-
iances for the Center;
1. Stove
2. Refrigerator
3. Tables
4. Chairs
5. Other furnishings
The placing of the picnic tables in the new park and
the type of tables to be used were discussed and the
President appointed Bill Bishop and Irene McDavid as
a committee to decide on the location of such tables,
on a priority basis, and to advise the staff of the
proposed location. The Board reviewed three sets of
plans for construction of these tables and decided
that the most vandal proof type should be the one
placed in the park. The Board instructed Mel Justice
to check with Dave Bloxom and see how many tables
could be built with monies available.

The President asked about the availability of funds
for removal of the poles on the old ballfield located
on school property. The KYA has indicated a desire to
donate the poles and fixtures to the City, but does not
have funds availaile for removal. Mel Justice advised
there are no City funds available for such removal,
but other means for removal would be explored. The
Board wished to retain the poles, but since the fix-
tures are out -moded the City would desire to have
mercury -vapor type fixtures for park lighting and
possibly some other disposition might be made of the
old fixtures.
Frankie Luttrell asked that the Board be advised of its
present composition since in April 1979 the terms of all
members, including those extended, would expire. Mel Jus-
tice informed the Board he would ask Council guidance
in this matter and inform Board members prior to the
May 1979 meeting.
Motion made and carried that the Board adjourn at 8:55 P.M.
