REGULAR MEETING OF THE KENNEDALE
PARK BOARD
December 5, 1978
The Kennedale Park Board convened at 7:30 p.m., December 5, 1978
in the City Hall to discuss'various park type projects. Present
at the meeting were Bob Patterson, President, Bill Bishop, Member,
Irene McDavid, Member, Stephen Love, Ex- Officio Member, City
Council Members George Lowery and Charles Kuykendall. Mel Justice
was staff member in attendance.
The minutes of the November 20, 1978 meeting were officially
accepted as presented.
A letter from the Mayor informing the Board of the possibility
of the City acquiring a $150,000 grant from the Economic Develop-
ment Administration was read and it was moved by Bill Bishop,
seconded by Mrs. McDavid, that the Board request City Council
submit an application for these funds to the EDA. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Mrs. McDavid, seconded by Bill Bishop, and
carried, that the Park Board include the following in the minutes
as Board policies:
a. The Kennedale Youth Association to have reservations
on the ball fields from April through the middle of
July on an as needed basis for Little League and Pony
League play and reservation of the ball fields from
September through December on an as needed basis for
Pee Wee Football play.
b. Grant the Kennedale Youth Association authority to
maintain the infields of the ball fields only during
the reservation times with the City to maintain the
rest of the park area.
Mrs. McDavid made a motion, seconded by Bill Bishop, that City
Council be requested to have a fence installed, with a walk
thru turnstile gate, immediately east of the ball field areas
to preclude horses, mini- bikes, etc. from damaging the ball
fields and also that Council be requested to have a turnstile
gate installed at the walk thru gate at the parking lot, off -set
to permit entry of persons, but not horses into the ball field
area. Motion carried.
Bill Bishop made a motion, seconded by Mrs. McDavid, that a
recommendation be submitted to City Council that a reservation
system, exclusive of that with the Kennedale Youth Association
be established with those requesting such reservations being
required to deposit $25.00 at the City Hall to insure light

usage is paid for and them receiving a key to turn on lights.
Motion carried.
Motion made and carried that Board adjourn at 9:30 p.m.
