MINUTES OF
KENNEDALE CITY COUNCIL
SPECIAL MEETING - AUGUST 24, 1993
COMMUNITY CENTER - 100 E. BROADWAY STREET - 6:30 P.M.
Mayor Abbott called the meeting to order aL 6:40 p.m.
Members present were Mayor Abbott, Mark Wright, Robert Mundy, rend
Pete Kirkpatrick. Tom Boone arrived at 7:40 p.m. Ron Kovacrr was
absent due to the death of his mother.
Staff in attendance were Ted Rowe, Vicki Thompson, Ka-thy Turner,
David Arnold, Jerry Kirkpatrick, and Pat Mc;Carroll.
Item No. 1 was delayed until after the budget workshop.
ITEM NO. 2 - General Discussion.
Mayor Abbott staled in the last meeting they basically went over

map.
Council and Planning and Zoning Commissioner's reviewed a letter
requesting a mooning change of a 71 acre LracL of Land aL Lhe
southwest corner of Little School Road and Mansfield Cardinal.
ITEM N0.3 - Budget Workshop.
Mr. Rowe stated that for next year's budget preparation the
planning and ~onirig comuri5sion could help prepare Lhe thoroughfare
repair and reconstruction plan. Rowe advised this year has been a
busy year for commissioners working through the zoning rewrite and
tyre rrexL process is to begin the subdivision ordinance.
Council discussed the Fire Department budget with Fire Chief, Jerry
Kirkpatrick. Kirkpatrick stated their goals are still the same,
and they are trying to build depth 'to preveriL a shod: Fall from
sickness, training, and vacation time. By doing this he is
requesting one more Firefighter. Kirkpatrick is satisfied with
their basic equipment, response time and quality of personnel and
also advised the have 52 active personnel at this Lime including
both paid and volunteer.
Mr. Rowe questioned Kirkpatrick if there would be a problem doing
away with Lhe Volunteer Incentive Program and Life Insurance.

Kirkpatrick said if tie was to cut anything this would be the first

slated That we need to keep in mina that a purchase of a new
ambulance will be foreseen in ttie upcoming year.
ITEM NO. 1 - Vute to Place Proposal lur Tax Rate Increase Above
Notice and Hearing Limit on Future Agenda.
