07.16.2013 KKB MinutesKeep Kennedale Beautiful Meeting Minutes of July 16, 2013 I. Call to order at 6:00pm II. Members Present: Laurie Sanders LaCresha Sanders Vickie Chandler Fred Winters Stephen Brim Rachel Rogers Wilda Turner HR Director, Kelly Cooper III. Motion to approve the minutes of June 11, 2013 by Vickie Chandler, second by LaCresha Sanders. Motion carried. IV. Visitor /Citizens Forum — None V. Regular Items A. "Bring It" event — Mission Store, E- waste, Action Shred and the Crud Cruiser will be available. The Boy Scouts will be asked to help. The same signs will be used with the new date displayed. The traffic flow will be the same as last time. B. Butterfly /Bird Garden — Stephen will draft a letter to Lee Engineering expressing our concerns about the watering system. He will send it to each one on the KKB Board to review. Planting smaller areas may be the new plan. Kelly will contact Stegall's Nursery to prepay for the plants that will be installed this fall. C. Christmas Tree Recycling — LaCresha will contact local cities for information about their recycling programs and invite them to a future KKB meeting. Yard Decoration Program — Kelly will contact Haltom City for their decorating program information. VI. Reports /Announcements — LaCresha reports on the conference she attended. TXU has a 2.6 million dollar fund used to donate trees to communities. Texas Forest Service will demonstrate /help plant trees, how deep etc. Fund Raising - Put a wish list on the KKB web site for donations from the public and establish competitions. "Adopt a Site" may be the way to get volunteers to help maintain the butterfly /bird garden. Public outreach — donate small potted plants for senior citizens and small tree for yards. STAR, "State of Texas Allegiance for Recycling" will help educate the public when we do recycling events. VII. Adjourned 6:58pm G�
