Members Present: Michael Chandler Vickie Chandler NaMicha Williams Rachel Rogers LaCresha Sanders Wilda Turner HR Director, Kelly Cooper 111. Regular Items A. Motion to approve the minutes of August 9, 2011 KKB Meeting by Rachel Rogers, second by Vickie Chandler. Motion approved with addition of adjournment time of 7:00 p.m. B. Bird Sanctuary Clean -up at Sonora Park & Railroad Park 1. Reviewed list of items needed, ie. shovels, rakes, wheel barrows, goggles and other related tools. Rachel Roberts will purchase needed tools with the Grant money. Our tools will be stored at the City Public Works Dept. Pastries, granola bars, water and snacks will be provided. General clean -up will be done by youngsters and those not dressed to go into the wooded area. Adults and older kids will work on the wooded areas. City staff will mark areas with poison ivy and other plants /areas to be left alone. The Railroad Park will be given attention if time and personnel allows. We may move work on this area to spring. Kelly will add this information to the City website and prepare a press release. A form for an emergency contact phone number and a sign -up sheet will be available. Rachel Roberts is preparing the training agenda. IESI will provide a dumpster. Reserve the pavilion for Blackland Prairie Raptor. A letter for the volunteers from KISD is needed for the students to get credit for community service. 2. Reviewed Flyer - Suggestions were made to add a contact phone number, wear work clothes, gloves, first aid kit, drinks and snacks will be provided. Bring a sack lunch and see Blackland Prairie Raptor presentation. 3. Volunteers (Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts) - Michael will continue to be in contact with them. Michael and Kelly will purchase the needed items for the 12 bird houses the Scouts are going to build and 12 T posts to attaching the bird houses. The Park Board is in agreement with the installation of the T posts in the Park. The houses for the owls and ducks may be a project for next year. Vickie will express our appreciation for their participation to the Clarks and Wilda will do likewise to the Winters. Michael will handle the Park Board volunteers C. KKB Face book - Up and working D. Fall Clean -up - discussion at a later date E. North Texas Corporate Recycling Association - Kelly has emailed them. Will provide response at next KKB meeting. F. Updates 1. thru 4. - No discussion 5. Interact Youth Club - Board Alternates /Interns - Motion to move forward to add 2 students to the KKB Board by Vickie Chandler, second by NaMicha Williams.
