Williams, second by Rachel Rogers. Motion approved.
B. Bird Sanctuary Clean -up
1. Paula Chanell discussed plants for food and areas to leave unchanged as
natural habitats for the birds. She had building plans for bird houses that would
attract the various species that live in this area. She and Rachel Roberts, City
Planner, will explore the sanctuary areas. The Boy Scouts will be asked to build
the bird houses with material provided by KKB. Michael will research and decide
how much wood is needed. The bird houses may be ready to erect at the
October 8, 2011 clean -up. Grids will be established for a more organized
clean -up. Each grid will have a team responsible for it as well as a team leader.
Students from the National Honor Society, YAK and other students will be
enlisted to accomplish the clean -up in Sonora Park and the old station house
area. Drinks and hot dogs will be provided. We hope to have a Park Ranger
available. Flyers advertising the habitat clean -up will be ready for the KKB
September meeting.
2. The To Do List will be kept active and be shown on each monthly Agenda so
that we won't forget previously approved activities.
3. Michael Chandler advised that the Park Board is reviewing the Staff Report
prepared by Kelly Cooper. Assistance in cleaning the habitats will probably be on
an individual basis and not a Park Board activity. They are interested in our plans
and will get updates from Michael at their monthly meetings.
C. NaMicha is continuing to work on the KKB Face Book page.
D. Fall Clean -up and beautification project
1. City staff is researching Kennedale Parkway and will provide a report to the
City Manager. Once accomplished they will begin to assess the problems and
resolutions. KKB can get involved at that time. Kelly will continue to keep us
updated.
2. Apache and FWT are included in D. 1. discussion.
E. North Texas Corporate Recycling Association
Michael researched and found that we must be a member ($75.00) to get
information. He will continue to pursue, and ask for help from Lacretia
Sanders.
F. Updates on items 1. thru 5. will be discussed at a later time when we are
ready to take on other projects.
