Public Hearing - To receive citizens comments regarding projects to be
funded under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for the
twenty-first year (1995).
Mr. Rowe presented questionnaires to those present and requested their
input regarding the CDBG project. Then, Mr. Rowe gave a brief
presentation regarding the CDBG program and how it has benefited the
city.
Mayor Abbott questioned if Sublett, Little Road, New Hope Road, and
Broadway would qualify for CDBG projects since the majority of city was
in the target area. Mr. Rowe stated both Sublett and Little Road would
be difficult to determine ahead of time because 51 percent of the major
beneficiary of that project has to be low to moderate income people. Mr.
Rowe also noted that transient traffic would play a major role in making
that decision.
Councilmen Wright questioned why parks was not on the questionnaire
anymore. Mayor Abbott replied that parks were very low on the point
system.
There being no further discussion, Mayor Abbott adjourned the public
hearing at 7:50 p.m.
