KENNEDALE CITY COUNCIL
PUBLIC HEARING - SEPTEMBER 5, 1996
100 E. BROADWAY ST. - COMMUNITY CENTER
Mayor Mundy called the public hearings to order at 6:36 p.m.
Members present were Mayor Mundy, Councilmembers Wright, Barrett and
Boone. Councilmembers Kovach and McCraw were absent.
Staff present were Ted Rowe, Kathy Turner, and Vicki Thompson.
Public Hearing No. 1 - To receive citizens comments regarding the
proposed budget for fiscal year 1996/97.
Ms. Nita Vaughn, who resides at 408 Coker Valley Dr., Kennedale, Texas
voiced her support for the library and the need for additional help.
Furthermore, she stated without the additional help there would be many
programs that would not be provided in the absence of the current
librarian and stressed the need to train an additional person.
Pos. Beverly Reher, who resides at 113 Oak Ridge Trail, Kennedale, Texas,
stated that she enjoys the benefits the library has to offer and has
watched it grow continuously. However, Ms. Reher expressed concern that
if t}ie present librarian was out of pocket there would be no one
available to operate the library without additional help. Furthermore,
she stated she would like to see the library keep moving forward, as
well as progression in the budget for the library in order to meet the
needs of the community and keep the benefits available to the children.
Mr. Jim Jaeger, a volunteer for the library, addressed his concerns
relating to the safety and well-being of the librarian being alone in
the building, as well as the need for additional help.
Public Hearing No. 2 - To receive citizens comments regarding the 1996
proposed tax rate of $0.578077 per $100.00 of taxable value.
No one signed in to speak for or against the proposed tax rate of
$0.0578077 per $100.00 of taxable value.
At the close of the hearing, Mayor Mundy announced that the governing
body will vote on the proposed tax rate on Tuesday, September 17, 1996
at 7:00 p.r*m. in the Community Center located at 100 East Broadway St.,
Kennedale, Texas.
`Phere being no further comments, Mayor Muridy adjourned the public
hearings at 6:43 p.m.
