KENNEDALE CITY COUNCIL
SPECIAL MEETING - AUGUST 13, 1996

Mayor Mundy called the meeting to order at 6:34 p.m.
Members present were Mayor Mundy, Councilmembers Wright, McCraw, Boone
and Barrett. Councilmember Kovach arrived at 6:58 p.m.
Staff present were Ted Rowe, Kathy Turner, Vicki Thompson, Gwen Bevill
and Melode Seremet, president of Friends of the Litbrary in Kennedale
(FOLK).
The meeting progressed with general discussion prior to the budget
workshop.
ITEM NO. 2 - General Discussion.
Mr. Rowe advised that Fort Worth City Council approved the ETJ line
adjustment agreement today, and the FEMA visit would be held on August
27, 1996.
ITEM NO. 1 - Budget Workshop.
Ms. Thompson addressed general fund revenues, sales tax recap, estimated
revenue worksheet, general fund summary by department and estimated cash
position. In addition, she provided a delta review sheet that showed
what the net difference between new requests and the base budget.
Council then reviewed the senior/community center budget which reflected
very minimal changes from the prior year and the need to find a
replacement vehicle for the senior director.
Next, the city secretary's budget was discussed which reflected an
increase due to the proposed homerule election. In addition, Ms. Turner
stated that association dues had been reduced and a line item added for
training.
Discussion then followed with the library budget and Ms. Seremet
presenting her 1996/97 goals and objectives. She also provided charts
comparing the previous year activity with the present which reflected
how the library has grown.
ITEM NO. 3 - Approval of emergency purchase of dump truck.
Councilmember Barrett moved to approve an emergency purchase for a dump
truck not to exceed $11,500 due to unforeseen damage to the present dump
truck, seconded by Councilmember Wright with all members voting in
favor.
Council went back to item number two, general discussion.
ITEM NO. 2 - General Discussion continued.
Mayor Mundy thanked the citizens of Kennedale and everyone who
participated in the passing of the August 10, 1996 Special Election. In
addition, council discussed briefly the creation of the Economic
Development Corporation.

Ms. Thompson presented council with the fire and ambulance budget
worksheets to be discussed at the August 15th workshop.
There being no further discussion, Mayor Mundy adjourned the meeting at
7:57 p.m.
